    Clio 182 RB

I haven’t got my glasses on, and read that as “remove boobies from seats” First question was why remove them. Second question was where can I get seats with boobies on them. Third thought was what the actual frig am I on about. Engine rebuild price does seem spicy at first glance but then...

    The New Phone Thread

Great for those who use the extra screen size but a niche market and they’re still fragile. Rumour is that Apple will do something in that space next time round if they can get the tech physically robust enough.

    ChatGPT (AI)

It’s an incredibly powerful tool to streamline things in the right circumstances, but if not used appropriately it does turn people into morons. We have already started to have real problems recruiting graduates who can do stuff without it, take the crutch away and they are nowhere. That’s a...

Project Binky - mini 4x4 turbo celica engine

I’m pretty sure they were taking the piss, but yeah I get what you’re saying. I generally quite enjoy their content and it doesn’t bother me even if they only drop one video a year, but appreciate other people find that frustrating.

Project Binky - mini 4x4 turbo celica engine

Maybe, but it can’t be a shock. How long is it now that they’ve been incredibly slow at releasing new content? Anyone still paying and expecting anything different to what they’re getting hasn’t been paying attention for the last few years 😂

Project Binky - mini 4x4 turbo celica engine

They can’t win, people constantly ask what’s been going on with it, they say what’s been going on with it (not much), people aren’t happy with the update. Ancient fibreglass and ply board bus in “completely rotten” shock 😂

    New Wireless Router Help

Sorry, no first hand experience of that sort of kit. I've used other TP Link bits over the years and found them to be fine. The only thing I'm wary of is that it might not be the router you're currently using which is the problem, can you stream video in the workshop for example? Just wondering...

    New Wireless Router Help

If a WiFi range extender won’t work you’d probably be best off with a wireless access point to plug into your Ethernet. Something like this.... TP-LINK TL-WA901ND 450 Mbps Wireless N Access Point https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B013HCO332/?tag=cliospnet01-21

    New Wireless Router Help

I'd be really surprised if even a five year old router can't cope with a bit of Skype, but personally unless you have some other reason for having a router or the workshop is a loooong way away from the main router I'd just get a wifi extender...

Adeys Twingo GT, grab a bargain

Sounds like if they do you'd follow through on the auction, fair play if so. I was mightily tempted, but need to get the house move out of the way before doing anything car-y

    My New Volvo 850 T5

Today I took eight internal house doors to the tip along with assorted other bags of waste. Yay for Volvo estates! Then I decided to chase down the battery drain, got my meter attached to the battery and pulled each fuse one by one. No change. This is actually a good thing, because that tells...

    My New Volvo 850 T5

I can quite happily live with the mpgeees at about 8k miles a year which is what I’m doing at the moment. It stops being viable at high mileages though. I think I’m going to have to get a window sticker for it that reads “I’m turning into a proper slut”. Love it.

    My New Volvo 850 T5

Decision made - This car is also going to be moving on. I’ve got my name down on the waiting list for a car from evezy so once that arrives I’ll sell the 850. No regrets, I love it, it’s been a brilliant trip down memory lane but I’ve done what I wanted to do with it now, I’ve only got space for...

    My New Volvo 850 T5

Picked the car up, had a nice chat with the guys at the garage, they were going on about how nice it was to see one again and how clean it was underneath etc etc. Plus the handbrake is working, which is also good.

Scotland again? I'll probably end up buying it off whoever you sold it to in a few months :D

    My New Volvo 850 T5

Just got a call from the garage, handbrake cables are buggered. One has seized completely and the other one is not far behind. Could have been worse, at least that's all sorted.

    My New Volvo 850 T5

Yeah they ran the estate for a year but it wasn't competitive, they claim it was a development year so they ran the estate for the publicity. The saloon worked much better...

    My New Volvo 850 T5

Yeah, definitely possible. When my last one did that it got jammed up and punched a hole in the hub, which was entertaining.

    My New Volvo 850 T5

The handbrake has gone all w**k, so it’s going in on Monday to get that sorted. Hopefully something simple, the adjusters are notorious on these. Need to get it cleaned too. In fact, I might go up to the hand job.... errr.... wash place now.

    My New Volvo 850 T5

I love this car, really, really love it. The engine is so smooth and apart from being just a nice thing to smoke around in it‘s so practical! I know, I know, Volvo estate in “practical” shocker o_O I‘ve had to do a couple of Southampton to Bristol runs recently and it just eats the miles...

    My New Volvo 850 T5

Yeah..... we're moving house fairly soon and my mileage will be back up to 20k+ a year. Sod that at mid 20's mpg ;) As to the exhaust and the bush..... it's definitely a thought. I will probably do the polybush first - that's only about £20!

    My New Volvo 850 T5

The MPG is pretty poor. I knew it would struggle to crack 30mpg even on a run. Currently averaging about 25, which is par for the course really given the way it's being used. Doesn't really matter that much as it's not a daily, or at least it will stop being a daily when I get the MoT done on...

    My New Volvo 850 T5

Mine. All mine. It's an absolute cracker. Few issues I need to sort - bit of a vibration under braking sometimes, a battery drain which I strongly suspect is down to the crappy old immobiliser and the windscreen has picked up a stonechip. Such a pleasure to be back in an 850 again, sure...

The Power PC Thread [f*ck off consoles]

Yep it's 2x10, which even running in RAID 1 is still overkill for me. Need a backup solution for two PCs and one server plus a streaming box - all in about 7 TB worth of data assuming I back up absolutely everything.

The Power PC Thread [f*ck off consoles]

Thought I'd pop this here rather than in the general black friday deals thread as it's a bit niche. https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B072KKPQZ8/?tag=cliospnet01-21 £400 for a 20Tb NAS drive, a genuinely good deal according to the price tracking websites, assuming you are looking for a big NAS drive...

Oil Changes at home - pumping out via the dipstick...

Used the pump to do an oil change on the Scenic. Personally I found it much easier than jacking the car up and messing around underneath, it also helped that the oil filter is accessible from the top on the K9K.

What tyre makes are best, 195/55/15 H size?

“Best” is really difficult as it depends on your priorities. Depends on the type of driving your daughter does too. Personally I’d find it hard to look past the Michelin CrossClimate+. They’re expensive, but they’ll grip well whatever the conditions, even in snow.

Oil Changes at home - pumping out via the dipstick...

OK, "need" is pushing it. I could just reset the service indicator and forget about it, but I've ordered the oil and filter now. For £45 including the pump, may as well! Mind you, that is more than 5% of the cost of the car in the first place.

Oil Changes at home - pumping out via the dipstick...

I'd never even thought of that, I don't currently have a flat area where I can jack the car up safely and I need to do an oil change on the van of misery. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/12V-60W-Electric-Fluid-Extractor-Oil-Diesel-Transfer-Pump-Siphon-Car-Motorbike/132439466537 Even if it's...
