This is a straight up copy and paste from the OP ... he sent me this at 22:31 so hot off the press
So, a reply to Carl saying i didn’t pay for turbo for 6-8 month....
I had paid him £1050 pound to get the ball rolling for the likes of timing belt kit and water pump and oil change etc. Quote...
He's all but been in tears to be totally honest mate. Genuinely heartbroken. He just wants it fixed whether that means sending it to Carl or elsewhere. He has been in touch with another renault specialist who I won't name who has quoted him 3k to completely finish the car and a time frame of 2...
@MarcB
I have spent around 4 hours over the last 3 days on the phone to the OP discussing this situation and his options moving forward. I see him at least once a week, I feel I'm in a very good position to fight his corner on here given that I have been involved in this for the last 18 months...
@Stefan. Correct mate
Blew his 1st engine up so went to Engine Dynamics and had a forged engine installed costing a fair few thousand. It was then running 330bhp so mapping, turbo kit, standalone ECU, swirl pot etc were added.
£1,500 coilovers
Blown up gearbox so that was rebuilt
Full...
Thankfully. Someone who has seen sense. There have been a few who have backed the OP but so many people fighting blokes corner when he has basically admitted fault. The mind boggles.
If Carl isn't answering his phone via calls or texts, what do you expect the lad to do? I've seen the call and message logs, it's actually embarrassing from Carl's side. Civilised goes out of the window when it takes to people to have a conversation and the 2nd person is AWOL.
Too many people...
As I've said above, I don't condone it. Not really going to resolve anything. However, if that was my car I'd be thinking similar. Not exactly saying I'd act on it as I'm not a t*t but the thoughts would definitely be running through my mind.
I'm not wanting to stop his business. If people want to trust him then that is up to them. You have already seen some of the posts on here and people are happy to continue using him. All I'm trying to do is make people aware of what has happened to others. I've already had a las message me on...
I'm the OPs mate, and I will be helping him no end.
We will just bury this under the sand and let it happen to a few more people like the Andy Greer saga. Moderators might as well lock this post now as @ZachB has just came up with the perfect resolution.
The police stood by and watched and Carl has chosen not to press charges. If Carl was the innocent member here do you think he wouldn't be pressing charges? Or do you think he took a step back and thought, I probably deserved that ...
Wrong in both instances @Waitey
The car is in his garage back home and no further actions were taken. The police said it was a civil matter and they couldn't intervene, they were only there to prevent more violence. The OPs mate was temporarily arrested just to prevent more confrontation, and...
Well put @Louis
I'll update this should any further developments occur regarding the outcome. Not sure if @bloke would rather keep out of this publicly and resolve something behind closed doors but I believe it would be good for him to come out and talk about this rather than hiding behind...
I'd believe cost had a large part to play and also availability. RS Tuning are usually heavily booked for such large projects. Hindsight is a great thing and we can all say I would have done this, that and the other but in the grand scheme of things if someone says I can do the same job quicker...
If so, I'm sure Carl would have asked for the car to be collected sooner and would have actually been there upon collection rather than the OP having to break into the unit during the day. I'm also sure he would of said that in his defence earlier in this post. He accepted that it was his fault...
I don't believe he is even set up as a registered business so don't think it would even get to court.
Also, not everyone has the money sat there to pay for legal fees
Guessing you haven't been reading peoples replies on the Facebook groups mate. I for one would be causing hell on if my car for 11 years that I was £30,000 deep in was left in this state after 18 months. I'm guessing you would just laugh it off and tell him not to worry about it though ...
I'm not calling for his head as such. I'm merely stating facts and trying to find a means of both parties losing as little as possible. If this was my car I would 100% be calling for his head as I'd be furious as I'm sure yourself and everyone else would be so can't blame the OP in the...
I do agree in that both parties need help to get back on their feet. However, what happens here? This all gets brushed under the carpet and the OP is left with a car in bits and a massive dent in his pocket. Carl gets away with a small blemish on his reputation whilst still trading on here ... ...
Yeah the OP believed he had just shy of 30k invested in the car including the initial cost price.
I do agree with @william84 stating that Carl has offered an abundance of advice on this forum and helped a lot of people out. However, speaking from personal experience, and I know @Gus is another...
Yeah I agree, but I guess red mist played a major part in the OPs post and he just wanted to get the message out there, whilst understandably being full of hell.
It'll be interesting to see the final result of this.
OP works offshore for 3+ months at a time. He was filled with numerous empty promises and he put Carl's reputation first, thinking that he would eventually pull through and make amends.
There was a similar bust up around June/July time on a smaller scale, where Carl promised to have the car...
@Eddie555 - I see your point, but what build takes a specialist 18 months to complete ... ? Does that car look likes its 18 months in to a build or 18 months on the back burner?
Anyone got any advice with regards to fitting the AST top mounts? I've got a set of 5100 coilpvers on and I've just bought the top mounts to match but not sure how the best way to fit them is with the bolts being off centre
Cheers,
Steve
