Danny's totally right in the fact I should be getting it done by the specialists but I won't most probably. It's not about it being right or not I just fancy doing it myself and now I know folk near that can do it and willing to help.
Haha well I do have the belt kit in the car and I have done a lot more research and I now have met several folk who are local and can help me with it as they have done it before, been buying parts of a boy with 2 sunflower ph1's and everyone near me with ph1 know him and now has become easier to...
The tool kit that arrived today never came with the bit to hold the de-phaser in place, it's my luck I would find Renault set after spending £25 on the cheap set. I have not yet spoke to Rentec as I have been busy . I shall ring them Monday and see what they say to it and ask them about this "...
Got the video uploaded easier than i thought but having to go from laptop to phone and to laptop is not how i thought the future was going to be like at all 😧
Mm this is the tool that is left on ebay there was a big black one but its vanished, this doesnt look like it would do any good even though it is for illustrative purposes haha...
You have all been great like i know as my first time doing the belt i should have professional supervision and i would prefer to learn how to do it over giving the car away to have it be done, In an ideal world i would have a guy who has done lots help me do it so i can do it again in the future...
The First of the tools arrived today the locking pins and the u bend thing and later on the cam belt kit should be arriving. I am ordering the auxiliary belt kit today along with the tool to lock the de-phaser and exhaust pulley in place but i also just found the proper Renault tools at £133 odd...
Lol my car was pretty cheap like and i do get it would be better to have someone who has done a load of them to either do it for me, i obviously don't want to destroy the car but on the other hand i have always worked on my own cars too and learning from someone who does them would be better as...
I will be reading and printing it along with everything else I can get my hands on, I work in a unit with 3 Renault 5 turbos that I have been building and the more everyone says I can't the more I want to do it myself. I wouldn't tackle it if I thought it was going to be that hard but you got to...
Cheers man, I will be getting that last tool for sure now before I start. I am not replacing the dephaser or I am planning on not changing it yet because it doesn't need it but if I take it apart and it needs done Al have to do it. I will have the video of the noise being made posted the day
Had my dog 13 year and that's a bit below the belt there phase1sr dinnae be bringing the dog into it
And why would you and Dannyr be this bothered by the fact I want to do it myself, here is plenty of stuff on here about folk doing it themselves and they were never belittled and got some good...
Maybe but I read a thread on here that said I didn't need all the tools for just changing the belt and tensioners.
I don't earn enough in a month to have cash to have a specialist even look at it nor will I have until July and that's a maybe.
Can i not be competent enough to do this with the...
I only really got my mate who has worked with renault turbos since the early 90's and I will have read up on as much as I can on this too. I became a full member here today so I could get access to the good info I seen a piece already which looks like I am going to use but then is there anyone...
What if i did the work and a specialist just kept an eye on me ? How much would that cost? Hahaha I am a mechanic student but most of my tutors had not hear d of a dephaser before well at the least the name of it haha.
I am going to make a list of all these toruqes and check them against...
I did clock another set of toruqes on here and i got an oldish copy of autodata too only goes up to 2011 but even reading the guide on autodata it doesnt seem that hard to do at all and i would need to borrow a proper set of locking tools if mine werent going to cut the mustard its just i cant...
I was having a read of this an finding other info on doing the cam belt change myself. I just bought a cheap camshaft locking tool kit which i thought was going to be enough but after reading this it is seeming like taking my time and using genuine renault s**t isnt going to be enough ? I cant...
Aye they are indeed Exclusive wheels thaty someone previously sprayed black without masking anything up so the brakes and tyres all got a shite coat of black spray paint, i will be painting them silver again properly before swapping or selling them to an exclusive owner, I dont really like them...
