That makes sense. I'm curious what the difference is, in practical terms, but not enough to risk putting them on my car!
Cool, cheers!
Is there anything else it might be, while I'm at it?
Right, so my Clio 172 Cup cut out a few times today. Every time it did, it was at idle and the engine was warmed up to operating temperature; it would drop to a very low idle (noticeably less than 1k rpm) and then cut out.
It didn't do it while the engine was cold or while I was so much as...
I asked more or less this question on the CS facebook group and got this answer:
The first number is the light fitting, the second is for a crankshaft TDC sensor connector that looks- to me anyway- like it's basically the exact same part as the connector for the number plate illuminator except...
I can get the light fitting from RPD or Euro Car Parts easy enough but the connector at the loom end is bright green with corrosion and I'm basically getting no connectivity through it so the fitting alone isn't enough :/
I have checked the voltage at the back of the connector and there is...
As an update: I found the airbag ECU from the parts car, fitted it and everything worked perfectly :)
Then took it for the MOT and it turns out a couple of my lights were broken :(
The front side light & brake light were easy enough to fix but the number plate illuminator I've tried...
Yeah, my parts car was another Cup. Was written off by a much lighter impact in 2016 when they were worth a lot less; last time it ran the dash was clear so I assume the airbag ECU should be OK.
Thanks for the quick response guys!
So, to clarify: The airbag controller ("airbag ECU") is a separate unit, it seems like? And not hard coded to the UCH/ECU? And it sits under the centre console- sounds like it's next to where the OBD2 port is? If so, that's not too hard to get to.
I had a...
Right, so, did a quick keyword search and didn't find what I was after. It could be that my search-fu is weak, but that being what it is I figured I'd go ahead and ask:
I have a Clio 172 Cup. Had a crash a year and a half ago. The pretensioners on the driver's side fired, and when I plug my...
So, my 172 Cup. Started misfiring but only does it when the engine's up to temperature.
Replaced the lambda sensor as it'd needed it for a while. Replaced the spark plugs. Checked the injectors. Replaced the HT leads. Replaced the coil pack (twice). Put it into a garage to see if they...
I don't know everything. I know a lot of things. And I haven't posted in that thread in a while. But.... kinda. I did hold that reputation for a while.
This is one example of a thing I don't know and would like to. I'm aiming to try again on Sunday with a bigger hammer and a longer drift...
So long story short I need to remove the driver's door from my 172 Cup and I've got to the pins and removed the clips but the pins aren't budging. Is this common? Is there a trick to it or a particular tool that makes it easier? Do I just need to find a way to hit the pins harder? So far I've...
Right, so. My track car, a Clio 172 Cup, has stopped responding to throttle input. In addition, it's started idling a little high- about 1900 RPM- and quite rough.
I've checked the pedal box, and that works.
I've checked the throttle body, and that works.
I've checked the wiring, and while I...
I need new tyres anyway, and have already started looking into what's good for track use; the only reason I'm looking at suspension this early is because I need to replace bits of my daily driver's suspension already (another 172 Cup) and the easiest way for me to do that is to take the stock...
That's fine; I can get the Spax set or just stock replacements for my road car; as I said, this one's not going to be driven on roads, it's a dedicated track machine.
Speaking of stock replacements, do you know where I'd go for those when the time comes? Renault Parts Direct good?
I apologise...
So these: https://www.kamracing.co.uk/manufacturers/bc-racing/bc-racing-renault/renault-clio-mk2-bc-racing-dr-series-coilovers-172-182-renaultsport-inc-172-cup.html
with 9/8 springs?
Or these...
Right, so I now have a pretty clear idea of what I want in terms of brakes and brake fluid (with massive thanks to everybody, particularly @George@RTR_Parts ). In the interests of getting Step 6 rolling, what do you guys know about refreshing the suspension on a 172 Cup? I'm probably looking...
Right, so with thanks to @alistairolsen and @Potatoes and everyone else for their input, my immediate plan runs something like this:
1: Get HEL braided brake lines (I like the idea of stainless ends, I've had bad experiences with corroded brake line tips when doing repairs before).
2: Get...
