having some dramas with the timing of the engine.
all parts and tools genuine Renault and have done this timing belt 4 times before without any issues.
I have currently rebuilt the track car engine, and having dramas setting the camshafts. The inlet seems to spring back, and the timing tool...
Gents I am after some advice regarding 197 cams. I have installed them fitted new cam seals also, however I need to know if the exhaust cam dowel and dephaser retaining bolt are all the same as 172 before I purchase them.
Thanks in advance
Gents hit a bit of a problem. I have bought a genuine dephaser and cam seal kit however the bolt that's meant to hold the dephaser into the cam is too small in diameter. I've never seen this before.
Anyone able to shine some light on the issue
doing the timing tomorrows gents and cant remember if there is a spacer that goes behind the dephaser pulley as it looks like it has contact with the cam seal??
Gents good afternoon.
I am currently rebuilding the engine and have a drama with the sump gasket. I have been sent one that does not fit. Are there differences between the 172/182 versions.
gents after some advice really.
I have a proline brake line kit, however they weep at the joints. So hence I have been unable to complete the full bleeding process.
Just a generic question revolving how tight they need to be. Im guessing its as easy as just nipping them up tighter, but im...
and lastly but not least was turning my attention to the front hubs. These looked in a sorry state when I took them off the car, so invested in a 12 tonne bench press and got the old ones pressed out, well if only that easy.
bearing exploded upon touching them and had to weld a bead around...
that's about as far as I got with the engine up until now.
some rally p**n on the back wall for motivation.
few more things I need to do to the cylinder head before fitting the head gasket and bolting them together. But the majority of the work is done there new stem seals, lapped valves in...
over the last few nights I have been paying attention tot he bottom end, I have had the block pressure washed and blown dry. I was looking into getting it honed but I cant help but notice it being in very good nick indeed. So I popped to the local machine shop to get the crank picked up, all...
Gents I am in some need of where the piston rings sit in relation to each other on the piston itself.
I have searched everywhere for a diagram but can't seem to find one. Anyone able to point me in the right direction.
As always many thanks
My next plan was to grind back the subframe and insert the m8 rivnut bolts ready for the PMS sump guard. Few coats of zinc primer followed by a few coats of black and clear lacquer.
Next up I decided to remove the boot as it was a bit scratched. I then in my wisdow smashed the glass and will replace it with a polycarbonate window. Again sanded down, few coats of primer and a few coats of black.
Next up was to sorted the horrid and battered Ozf1 wheels. I proceeded with sanding them back, 3 coats of primer, 3 coats of fluorescent green, 3 coats of lacquer
1st things 1st I de rusted the front calipers gdinded them back and sprayed them red. I then proceeded to replace the seals and pistons. Looking good in red.
Having done that pretty easily and with both engine and shell in a decent state I decent to source the follow g parts for the build.
New bottom end gasket set
New head gasket set
De coke and inspect pistons
Thoroughly clean block and repaint
Clean sump
New standard valves
Keyway crank...
Having worked away for quite a few months, I thought about selling up and moving into something different. That coupled with moving to a new house, didn't help things.
However I have been secretly buying parts over these last 11 months to comnence the new build
