HI All,
After 2 years of little to no motorsport and less in Cornwall, I'm at the point where I'm undecided on whether to keep or sell two rally cars.
One is a standard RB 182 Clio, all the normal bits, Gripper, weld in etc etc, the second is the Clio Cup Race car 2007 (facelift) with the R3...
I used to drive my Audi TT sprint car to track then 2 things happened 1st smashed it into the wall! the the second time the cam followers crapped out. So when I moved to Clio Rally/Sprint car 100% trailered and dedicated to motorsport!
I ❤ sadev !!!
@Nathan Evans the black 106/saxo was at the event and parked close and didn't have a good first day either still had all the evans rallying stickers on it!!
Update:
May saw us enter the TSH stages 110 hard airfield rally around the old RAF Base at Portreath in Cornwall. Didnt start so well as we pulled up to start line and with 30s to go steam appeared from under bonnet so loosened belts to get out and then deceived just to go for it with 5s on...
What region are you in? ASWMC regulations are different than other regions! If in road going you have to retain all seats but can replace fronts with racing seats even to the point where a friend now passed away Paul Monroe changed the passenger seat to a Kevlar racing seat but still passed...
Millington engines put out 340+bhp for a 2.5! but come with a £18k price tag. a friend of mine spend 18months buiding a mk1 with 300+ traktive shift avo suspension from focus WRC only to find he was 6months late to a gunfight in which he had brought an air pistol. He spent £50k only to find...
I was just about to put a yes it should but
On a 182 the UCH and/or ECU provide the dash feed so I would say that yes it should if in a piggyback mode but asl ong as the old ECO still getts a signal from engine if not then def no.
or maybe!!
The 70s comes with a huge price tag now! I run a ABP hydraulic handbrake with a set of lines run internal. You will need a bias adjuster if your car had abs as it will return to a 50:50 setting which is far from ideal.
Induction is free on all A classes so you can add a super or turbo charger to to any roadgoing car. Many Mazdas have a supercharger conversion and end up in A3 *South West allows upto 1.8 turbo in A3 so my old TT didnt have to compete with Imprezzas or evos. You have to retain all road going...
@GrahamV182 Took mine out. then did the bocconoc stages rally in the wet not sure if you can see in the pick but the liquid mud was oozing out from around the lights, the indicator hole and when you open the door the s**t in on the door shut was bad!
The first year the MSA put restrictions on the length and no single seaters but Cornwall is not covered in long hills! @Pauleds as you say brought more people out we had 100s of cars each day which is more than all the other cornish motorsport events together. Hoping next year Plymouth run a few...
This weekend was the first closed public road in the UK at Watergate bay near Newquay. 3 years in the planning mainly down to one man Dave Brenton of Truro & District Motor Club ?. I entered the Clio Rally and gave it a new vinyl face lift!
Didn't stand too much of a chance against these two...
looking good. Does it have a log book yet? If not do you expect to get one before December as the rules change on the cage for next year? (you may already know)
packetfence is the software that allows a mac address (part of your wifi card in phone/laptop etc) to roam over multiple locations. You also need a wireless controller with dumb access points (APs) . we have 700+ Cisco APs with packet fence controlled by a 5520 controller. Cisco Meraki units...
@Nathan Evans thanks but what's a few hundred miles between friends ?. Yeah the chap in the green bmw is very fast, if you ever do an event down here the TSG stages is the one 100+ Stage miles but as its on the RAF base no pictures or videos.
Keeping it as close to Group N as possible so apart from diff which is MFactory via @pure-motorsport and vibratechnics engine mountsl all is Renault. It has a custom cages weld in cage. RRS from France fire extinguisher system, harnesses and steering wheel. Cobra seats. The suspension is all new...
Thought I would start this thread as a record of my car in competition.
It started as a standard 182 Cup and I had the intention of buying it to sell on but I decided to keep it and turn it into a rally car. I used to sprint and hillclimb around the South West along side @GrahamV182 . I had a...
@Rotoryboy The MSA Blue book is the bible! pdf for sprints/hillclimbs here https://www.msauk.org/assets/339-350specificregulationsforsprintshillclimbsanddragracings-1.pdf Section 12 Regulations for Modified Series Production Cars and Modified Specialist Production Cars + other bits throughout!
They had 150 entries without any race cars. Im not sure how they picked but I do know that my old Clio 182 fitted the bill! Car number 118 maybe because Rally Car! #182%Motorsport!!
PMS for me too. You will need to make a bridging unit to go over the gearbox which you can see in the pic above as part of the box is lower than the subframe.
Had one last year until I sold it to fund building my 182 Rally car. This one had 340bhp ! Well put together cars just a bit heavy. Just watch them start going up in value soon.
