Got a 172. Can anyone of you wise and knowledgable people tell me how the ecu gets info about engine water temp. Does it come from the sensor that feeds the temp gauge or is there a second sensor. Can I assume that if the gauge is reading around the right temp the ecu is getting the same...
Maybe the MAF then? Disconnecting my MAF (Clio 182) makes a big difference - it is hard to start, mis and back fires. Pretty undriveable really. The one on my Jeep was causing problems of hesitancy. A good clean sorted it so maybe try that with MAF cleaner/spray.
Thanks James. I found it all pretty straightforward - just took a bit of time to set the timing up. I'll take a good look at the belt and if there is any sign of oil I will renew.
The leak is seeping from the join between cam cover and head.
Trying to remember...are you sure the cam pulleys need to come off to get the cam cover off. I should remember - only did it a month or so ago
The cams would lift but not by a lot and anyway if they stayed in relative position to...
Annoyingly, having just changed the cambelt and all associated bits, retimed it and put it all back together, I've got a little leak from the cam cover. Been giving this some thought as I don't really want to dismantle it all again. I'm thinking maybe I could put all the cam locking tools back...
Hi. I'm reprogramming my injection ecu. My pin extractor isn't working. Could someone with a working version give me the matching code for 060963. Many thanks
Replaced the injectors with a s/h set. Still problems with starting but it pulls pretty well above 2000rpm. Ran it down for the MOT retest and would you believe the result!!?? CO 0%, HC 14ppm and lambda 1.03 on fast idle and CO 0% on natural idle. Unbelievable after the original results...
Having taken a look at the live data it seems that the emissions are so far out, an overfuelling problem is most likely causing the lambdas to lean out continuously. Fuel regulator or injectors maybe? The injectors were cheapo replacements so I wonder if they are naff. Think I will check the...
Great. Thanks for those replies. Rather confirms what I was thinking. Will check wiring and have live data looked at. Pretty sure there are no air leaks.
Has anyone got any thoughts on my emissions problem? After 7 years off the road and an engine change I finally got my Clio 182 down for the Mot today. Gave it a good blast before I took it in but it failed on emissions - see test results. Tester reckoned ecu was receiving no signal from...
No. They are not one of those - I've got one of them in the kit. Maybe I've got some sort of generic kit and these belong to another model. I think you guys would have recognised them if they were 182. By the way Gus, all my problems turned out to be bent valves in the head/engine I got from...
Having problems with diagnosing my Clio 182. Is anyone with Clip prepared to have a look at it? I'm in Twyford near Reading and happy to pay for time and travel.
Will have a go at that. On checking for leaks I have realised that when the ignition is on, operating the throttle causes the butterfly to be either fully open or fully closed. The throttle body also constantly buzzes. I guess it should operate progressively even when the engine isn't...
That was my initial thought but I have checked it all over for air tightness about ten times. Got all new gaskets. I'll give it another go though. I am thinking either a major air leak somewhere as you suggest or the throttle body isn't communicating with the ecu causing it to over fuel.
Little bit of background. My Clio 182 has been off the road since 2013 when the engine was trashed. I bought it a couple of years ago, put a low mileage replacement engine in it and have been struggling on and off since to get it going. When started it revs to 3000rpm on its own and as it...
Checked and cleaned the earth as you suggested and the pump is now running. Still problems though! After much cranking it eventually fires on a couple of cylinders and chugs then dies. Every now and then though it'll chug for a bit and then fire up on all four and sounds good - but it'll only...
