I get around 34mpg from my 182, with 38 on a granny run. I had a clio diesel on loan from the dealer for a couple of days, that did 92mpg according to the computer - the 182 is a bit quicker, though....

The car runs no problem at all on regular unleaded. Optimax seems better, in that the car is very slightly faster accellerating. 97 ron is the same as 95 as far as I can tell. Is the ECU self adjusting for SUL, or do you need to tell it which fuel it is running on?

My Clio 182 should use 98ron SUL, but the nearest place to buy it is around 40 miles round trip. Locally I can get the BP version, but that is a)only 97ron, b)99.6p/litre and c)no better than regular unleaded, unlike optimax. Am I stuffed, or is there an additive that will work?

What a welcome, and loads of excellent advice. The Clio replaced a Impreza WRX, mildly tweaked to 250bhp. Nice car, but hideous expensive to run, and slightly disappointing. Looked at Mazda RX8, Audi TT, Impreza Sti and a couple of others, and didnt really like any of them enought to part with...

Optimax is the stuff then. I live in the middle of nowhere, so not much chance of getting it (nor Sainsburys, thats only 33 miles). The plus side is no speed cameras:) Colin.
