Possibly correct, as I believe it has a higher percentage of bio. If that is the case is may be necessary to run slightly richer to get the best out of it.
As the former owner of a 182 Trophy I went through quite a lot of these considerations before defecting to a Honda Integra DC5, as for hill climbing I needed to be able to guarantee a significant increase in power. On the DC5 a decat is virtually essential to optimise a power increase. What is...
Gear type diffs - as per Quaife can have different specs, depends mainly on the angle of helical on the small gears, which will affect the amount of locking.
The Xtrac transmission package is the FIA approved system for S2000 and includes a rear wheel disconnect as the types of centre diff are very restricted
Andy, I can't argue with your actual findings - do they suggest that the engine wants different cams/overlap - are you running the variable phasing on the inlet cam still?
Long tracts will certainlymake best torque, but at what rpm, this is normally at the expense of the top end - several years ago AMD tried an experiment on variable length inlet manifolds and found that the changeover from long to short was as low as 4,000? What do they do to the area under the...
Those inlets look very long - and will surely limit power at higher rpm (as in the case of the 182)- can understand the installation issues, perhaps the best compromise would be to go for tapered tracts, albeit even more costly.
You will be stunned by this - Mk2 Cup cars:
Front 18kg/mm = 1,000 lbs/in
Rear 7kg/mm = 390 lbs/in
Almost solid - hence need for specfic tyres with very stiff sidewalls.
If you do not mind a much stiffer sidewall have a look at the Hankook RS2. It is a road tread and compound tyre with track type construction, a friend uses them for track days and sprints and finds them a good compromise. To get the best out of them run them at 28/26 psi
What happens is that it is possible to get the tracking apparently right, but with the track rods set at different lengths. This gives different bump steer geomtery on each side of the car, which is why it will wander and pull. Often happens because lazy people only adjust the track rod on one...
There is a reasonable chance that the 17's have a smaller offset than standard and that will change the steering geometry and hence the feel. On some cars a reduction of more than 5-7 mm is enough to be a problem.
If you have a friendly local machine shop one solution is to machine up to 5mm...
Fred is right - lowering is not a big issue re camber and castor - tracking should be as standard (toe out) or a bit less to compensate for a slight increase in camber from lowering.
If your steering wheel is not 'straight' it sounds as though the tracking has been set incorrectly with one...
This LSD, which is fitted to the latest variation of the Megane, apparently made by GKN. has generated some very good reviews. Assuming that the Megane's diff housing is the same as the normal Megane 225, would it fit a 182?
I need to splice into this to instal a more easily visible gear change light. Does anyone know how to identify the wire and whether I can get at it without distmantling the dash? I have tried the coil pack and for some reason the signal is not suitable. Thanks
Camshafts are one of those topics in life which disprove the old rule that you can get 80% of the results for 20% of the cost – you really need to pay for the best, which is why Ben and Schrick quite legitimately charge so much.
Traditionally cam design was all about lift, duration and...
No the set up that I have described is to replace the accoustic valve pipework - I will leave the secondary intake, which iirc is about 64mm, in place. Nor am I planning to take a sealed feed from where the foglight is, as there will be different pressure heads in each gear, even for the same...
The inlet to the air filter box is oval - 77 x 55. I intend to modify it to accept a 75 mm aluminium pipe fed by a flexible hose going down to a bell mouth where the accoustic valve used to be. Just trying to source some soft condition tube at a sensible price.
Book says 33/30. Some of us are running lower, either 31/28 or even 28/26. The lower pressures seem fine for every day use, and take some of the harshness out of the ride. Possibly need 33/30 for spirited driving.
