Hello mate i am not sure if the 1.2 springs will fit, i doubt it because i am sure the struts that come with the 172 are unique to that and the cup but i may be wrong. I have a set of h&r's in the garage in mint condition if you are interested? pm me if you are keen. cheers eddie

Its common for the shocks to go, but best to have them checked just to make sure before changing them, i think they ar eabout £60 a corner to replace. I have a set going if needed. All the best

it could be your shocks, have a look at them and see if they have leaked any fluid.

There is a very good garage in hillington, called kenny brown im sure there are a few members who have used him before. I got coilovers etc fitted and corner weighted very good job.

Im sure the cup shocks are the same, only difference was the springs so you should be fine.

its shocking that some last for ages and others fail.

not sure on their life span mate, but only getting 9k miles out of them aint right!!!! I have for 172 cup shocks with h&r springs for sale if needed. Hope you get it sorted soon

i think at the moment they are a renault only part, i think they are priced around £50 a corner.

all the dampers have done something like 10-12k miles and the springs about half of that. They were changed ages ago for fk coilovers and the car has only done 32k miles all in, i have sold the car and have some parts left over. They are in very good condition with all bolts and rubbers.

it sounds like your shock is done. check for leaks on the shock, but it does'nt sound good. They are fairly cheap to replace £50 ish a corner.

Its 30mm front and 40mm at the back.

2 front and 2 rear with 4 h&r springs, i'd be looking in the region of £150
