Alright lads, I recently fitted an aftermarket steering wheel to my 172 and because of this, obviously my airbag warning and service lights have come on. I heard recently that in the new clio, it's a dashboard-out job to remove the bulbs for these. Does anyone know if this is the case for my...
I wasn't specifically talking about the higher centre of gravity, but more the combination of all the aforementioned characteristics. Quite a well-measured, carefully constructed and informative response you made though superfastdan.
I'm not saying it's a bad car but they could've made it...
The new generation of F4R engines consistently put out less than the quoted 197PS (according to several reputable car mags). That, with its added heft, higher power curve, apreciably less torque-per-ton and power per ton (even at 7500 RPM!) and it's higher centre of gravity make it feel...
My 2002 172 cup seems to be having a steering issue at the moment, it seems very vague and intermittently wavers without any input from the steering wheel, the steering also feels lighter than it used to on occasion. It's pulling to the left and generally seems to have a mind of it's own. There...
I'm thinking of getting an ECU remap/chip for my 172 and was wondering if anybody had any reccomendations? I realise in-house re-maps are better, but is it worth spending the extra money to do this? Thanks for your help.
The discs are all scored and pitted, I think the previous owner must have run it on worn-out pads or something. The garage that just did it's mot suggested I replaced them fairly soon. Cheers.
I wonder if any of you guys can help me out, I have a 172 cup and recently it's developed a rattling noise from the front nearside under sharp right hand cornering, especially when it's rough road. It also happens under hard acceleration, but only if it wheelspins and starts tramping. Could this...
I need to replace the rear discs on my 172 cup, think I do the fronts soon as well. Have you guys got any suggestions for upgrade discs and pads? Cheers
Just wondering if any of you guys knew of any brake upgrades available for my 172 cup? From what I've read in reviews, the brakes should be very good as standard (quoted 2.5 seconds 60-0) but mine are more adequate than they are impressive and need to be pressed fairly hard. The discs show no...
Stumbled across this on ebay, looks quite promising. Judging by the pictures, it's been tested on a clio sport, cup model if I'm not mistaken.

I'm just wondering if anyone could tell me the kerb weight of a mark2 clio 172 cup? My friend and I have been in dis-agreement for ages. Also, any suggestions on what tyres to buy? I'm thinking about toyo proxes, I can get them for 50 quid a corner. Cheers, billybob
I own a 172 cup, and in standard tune with 2 extra people in the car, I outran him by a reasonable margin (was from standing to about 60 odd) Although, he may have been a crap driver.
My clio 172 cup sometimes makes a strange whirring/knocking noise from the front nearside wheel under heavy right hand cornering. Could this be a wheel bearing? The car's only done 21k miles so is that likely? Is this a common fault? Cheers, billybob
Sorry, it doesn't look crap but the standard 172 down-turned exhaust (as on mine) doesn't exactly look sporty, i think the 182 twin exit is much improved. Cheers, billybob
Just wondering if a 182 manifold will fit a 172, I'm considering buying one as someone has suggested that this is the only difference between the 182 and the 172 in terms of power. Is this correct? (I realise the back boxes are different also) Cheers, billybob
Thanks for that, I Don't think I'll bother then, any suggestions on what exhaust to get for a 172 then? The stock one looks fairly crap. Cheers, billybob
I was just wondering if it's possible to convert from 172 to 182 exhaust? I realise the rear bumper would just go straight on but, would the same apply for the rear exhaust section? (from the cat backwards) My main concern is the length and whether or not the ends would mate up properly, if at...
