Williams - What have a 1.8 head on if it lowers performance..? plus im sure it has some other mods..
Running in a staightline is more comparible to comparing on track (everyone can cane it through the gears)...lol
In summary more relevant.
TheJesus said:as you have stated on numerous occasions and at the risk of being boring "you cant compare cars with different mods"... you made the rules pal
I think he put the 1.8 head on to lower performance... no, hang on, it was because it was lying around and the other one broke... I knew there was a non retarded reason for not using it :clown:

It's y0z in his Cup when standard Vs Roamer in his Williams 1 with Hillpower chip and a decat as far as I can remember.
Download me.

EVOgone said:LOL please take drivers out of the equation... plus the car have different levels of mods. Just cause you pass someone then doesnt mean your car is faster. Passed GT3's round the Ring and many exotica on trackdays but it doesnt mean that its (172Cup) a faster car..
Your point isnt really valid IMHO..
EVOgone said:Very true it will not be a very true comparision but better than round a track, which is correct.
Wouldnt be happy bodging my engine with a valver head...ooooh
Anyhow seeing as your now a Willynone you will have to ask your mates. Yours was one of the slow ones i believe ..

I also highlighted that the driver of the 182 (which also had no rear internals and harnesses) was really rather fapping good. Probably at least on a par with Martin.
I think I then declared that martin's was also running a valver suspension setup, so without the willy track.
Finally I pointed out that he utterly panned the 182 and not by the kind of margin I'd expect between the two cars, given the range of mods and expertise of the drivers.
However, this doesn't conform with your argument so I'll leave it there.

As you know, I'm a fan of both the 172 cup and the Williams, remember guys, back when the Williams was created, it broke the mould, and was a picture that most kids had (or wanted to have) on their walls as a poster all those years ago. It was also a car that most kids would have wanted to aspire to, and if they saw one on the street would point at in awe (or am I just old? ). This is something that the MKII and MKIII RS Clios will probably never do because they are 'standard' looking. If Renault were to create something today that is as groundbreaking now, as the Williams was then, what would it be? I think it would be something like a Clio with the Astra VXR's power, and some form of body kit to make it instantly noticeable over other Clios (Like the V6 is!)

Gerry said:I agree completely because as you say the only clio to be as ground breaking as the Williams is the V6. It is nice to see a 172 or 182 on the road but they don't turn heads as much as the Williams or the V6. I drive a Williams 2 and I still have people stop and look at it. And the power feels great when it is all out and the handling is like running on rails. I like the others and wouldn't say no but the Williams is an Icon.

No offence (if none can be taken from that) as I think they are great cars... but an icon and comparing to a V6... get real!

I have to say the amount of people who recognise what it is or know something about the car even if its wrong ie arn't they 1.8's or arn't they raing cars etc is amazing even the local what you might call Chavs know what the ca is.Gaz Sport said:I cant imagine a Williams turning heads!?!? I own a 172 cup, and in standard tune with 2 extra people in the car, I outran him by a reasonable margin (was from standing to about 60 odd) Although, he may have been a crap driver.Loopz said:Yes, you're absolutely right, the 182 is faster, but the williams is faster. I wonder tho, how both of them would compare to the Civic Type-R??
Anyone knows, maybe?
Daz said:Erm, I don't think I've told one person that I drive a Williams, and they've looked unimpressed.
Even people with no car knowledge relate Williams to F1.. so they think nice.. and people who do know, stop and talk about the car.
Seriously.. the attention a Williams gets is insane..

Trophy 298/525 said:The 182.
In a straight line.
It has a slightly lower cd (Drag Co-efficient) so would reach a higher terminal velocity over a shorter time period.
If you dropped them both off a cliff.
Though, you couldn't drop a Williams off a cliff because they're too nice so the 182 would be pancaked and the Williams would be the winner.
Seriously, what the f**k. A 182 would actually beat a Bugatti Veryon in an average vmax test on a banked oval because the Veryon would run out of fuel after 11 minutes and be clocking 0mph while the Clio flies around for another half hour or so at 140mph.
If you want a fast car in a straight line buy a second hand drag car and some methanol, if you want a fast car around the bends buy a formula ford. Then with the money left over buy a Williams and own one of the best everyday usuable cars ever made.
...or wax the lot on a Trophy.
