I presume the rears are co-ax speakers, is it worth replacing with them with components - if so any idea of where to locate the tweeters?

I'd be spending more on the speakers as with an upgraded HU they'll be the weak link, especially if you amp them up.

Would a fluid change be required if this job was done?

Good point, they do look rather sturdy. Having pulled off the door speaker panel it looks like the recess in the car will take it, but confirmation that no cutting is required would be good. Will measure up and check if I get the time.
