I am looking to upgrade to a full stainless system for my 172. Anyone with pics can you please show me them;)
I am after a single pipe which is cut into the bumper, like the cutout on the 182's. Not interested in having one which sits under the bumper.
anyone know who do these?
yeh i will be doing the work myself,
i have had the bumper off this morning to take my lights out, (sorting a problem with them at the time)
this gives a bit of access to the aux belt near the air con pump and i felt the tension of the belt there and seems to be on the slack side. There is...

thats what i fitted, 8mm blue
They fit perfect and come with protective bits for areas where they may rub against the engine
i had this problem,
it ended up being the HT leads
When i run the engine and lifted the bonnet i could here sparking, and further investigation i could see a spark from the middle of my HT lead to plenum. What had happened was, the HT lead had been rubbing under the plenum and worn through...
I had a problem with my front fog lights not working, wasn't even getting the light on the dashboard.
I took the covers off around my steering wheel and found the wire for the fogs had broken on my indicator/light switches stalk.
re-soldered this on and all working again;)
Bing have you fitted a kit?
How did you manage to get the belt off?
Is it wheel off, inner arch off? Surely if it is tight going off it was tight going on?
Where did you buy the parts from, im going to get my bits from derby?
Anyone got any ideas on how to find out if my car would have...
i got a problem with mine, very sililar when i put load on the belt, such as turned the steering to full lock, i get such a screech, i have done this while watching the belt and can see the belt is slipping.
Also when i start the car i can here a slight screech as the engine starts.
I have...
Has anyone got any pics of their engine bay, with painted engine cover.
not sure what colour to do mine.
got a 172 iceburg silver, any recommendations?
Will check this sat when i get it on the ramp at work, going to swap a few bits from the other side to pinpoint the problem
Not far from you , work at ashbourne, was living there not long ago:dapprove:
NO NO NO
The light will now not strike up!
Am i looking at a new ballast do you think?
An ideas how much this is going to cost me to get it sorted?
Will it be easier and cheaper to replace the whole unit?
I would like to think it is just a bulb gone faulty and not the ballast,
if it was the ballast you would have thought the bulb would not power up at all, correct?
Yeh did leave the lights in "auto on " function. I also know the mechanics had the light unit out when replacing the belt...
Was thinking that is the cheapest option first, dont want to go wasting a load of money for nothing,
Any ideas how hard it is to do this?
do i have to take any precautions with the bulbs using a high voltage?
cheers
my car went into the garage last week for a auxhillary belt.
Since i have had it back the drivers side xenon has a problem, as i turn the lights on it goes blue, then slowly dims to a pinkish shade within 3-5 seconds.
what sort of a job will this be to sort out?
will it cause any damage if...
mine has done this, it went into my local garage for a new auxhillary belt and they had the headlight out to do the job. Since i have had the car back my problom is
when i turn the lights on they both come on white/blue,
then the drivers side dims to a pink colour.
Is it just a case of...
not sure if the tracking has made a difference yet, did about 2 miles down dual carriage way on the way home and felt ok there so fingers crossed. Wont really know till i get on some back roads.
Cheers stu, other people seem to have had this problem but never seen anyone with results so will be interesting.
Had the tracking done on mine today, they said it was towing out slightly, by about 2mm. Had it corrected to what it should be. The guy said this would give me un-even tyre wear...
ill ask the garage to look at the steering rack when it goes in, just feels very light on the steering as well, and doesnt feel as though there is much grip.
