    Swirl challenge

I can put you in contact with someone who can do as good a job as any, he'll do the free demo car also, however you need to guarentee at least 6 full exterior details a month for 3 months to cover a free job.

    Swirl challenge

Yep I have to admit a portfolio and testimonies will carry more weight than a free job, good idea though if someone is just starting out, but there again unless there is a promise of work all they are doing is giving away a freebie in the hope of something.

    Cleaning Hoses/Pipes

Not in any way disputing your findings at all, as we all will find different things work different ways, just told it as I found and use most days in my business, never had the problems with discolouring any rubber

    Cleaning Hoses/Pipes

I'd suggest either Megs APC or a citrus based cleaner, this will help to clear up any engine dirt and grime, may need aggitating on the built up areas and then a gentle wash with an open hose. Run the engine for 10 mins with the bonnet shut, a quick wipe down with a mf cloth for any puddles...

Any detailers in the Reading/Maidenhead area??

Sorry but I wouldn't recommend Brazo, well not unless you don't want to drive the car again, I've seen his work and even I wouldn't want to risk it getting even the slightest bit of dirt on it again after he's worked his magic, they are just too clean to drive, maybe put in the living room to...

    Swirly Wurly

Yep as Rich said I wouldn't try the full body by hand unless you have a few months spare. The Carlack options are easier and given the choice in cut will be quicker than ScratchX but not a lot :( Deb182, what is it about Essex, I've now got 5 cars down there booked and another 6 possibles...

i need new hardware (or soft as it may be...)

Fully agree with Rich, the megs and sonus are made from the same sort of MF material, but as he said thats where they are only the same. I have about 30 of the sonus ones, use them every day almost all year round and never had one go the same way the megs one do. The 5 megs ones I have left...

i need new hardware (or soft as it may be...)

You say Rich did your car early last year, if by this you mean a year ago, then I wouldn't worry too much that swirls are coming back, unfortunately there is nothing short of not washing or driving you car you can do, not all swirls are wash inflicted, some happen though the air flow whilst...

    Clay Q?

Every motor I clean I always clay all the glass, you can see and feel the difference, following this I also machine polish the glass which helps clean any dirt left and also improves visability, clarity and also allows rain to bead better, almost like rain x

I don't know JD seems to be a great lubricant, I guess thats why its near the clay :p

    Chemical guys butter wet wax

Butter wax is a great wet look wax, however durability isn't very good. I personally think of it as a show wax, and looks good on any colour. Really depends on what you want from a wax, max bling look, durability or a bit of each. Of the Chemical Guy's products I'd say the XXX hardcore for...

I must be off my nut

Here you go, some info as to why hot water is used. also my bad, its not 90 degree but about 60 :( http://ask.yahoo.com/20020115.html

I must be off my nut

Yep hot water freezes quicker than cold. When they re-level the surface on Ice rinks the machine uses 90 degree water, and it refreezes before the polisher has cleared the area its working on.

    Zymol Destiny Glaze

For me P21s only lasts a couple of weeks and I have a client who had 50/50 applied just before the JAE, its not had anything other than regular washes and still beading nicely. However back on topic, Destiny is a great wax, as its the Atlantique however I do now wonder if they are worth the...

    plastic trim - peanut butter

Peanut better will work, because its oil based, but the finish won't last very long, if you are going to use it personally you may as well use engine oil, it gives the same look and finish and durability and cheaper. Saying this the particals in PB do aid cleaning as slightly abrasive. Oh...

    Glaze's HELP

I have done both sealant then wax and just wax on top of EZ-Glaze both worked very well, though i do prefer to add more sealant just to add even more protection, followed by a good carnauba wax for warmth and finish

    Glaze's HELP

I have an affinty to the Chemical Guy's EZ-Glaze, as this is actually two products in one, its a glaze and acrylic sealant, giving the wet glaze look while also adding a thin coat of sealant, which also gives a great base for dedicated sealants to be added to. As a pure glaze the Megs #7 is...

    all purpose cleaner

Megs APC will do the same as TFR without being so agressive as some TFR's (I've seen some TFR's stain plastics and tyres :( ) Another option is CG's Citrus wash, its on the same lines as APC but uses natures citrus cleaning ability as a base, oh it smells great too :)

    Cleaning interior plastics

I use a lot of Chemical Guy's Silk Shine dressing, either a light spray onto the dash etc or a spray onto a mf cloth and wipe over everything, this latter method uses less product for the same finish :)

    Harly wax or P21s

I'd say of these two waxes the Harley is the better in terms of durability. The P21s is easier to apply, but removal is the same for both. I'd also say the Harley would be the better of the two on red.

cleaning and protecting powder coated alloys

I'd recommend a wheel cleaner like CG's Blue rim cleaner, this can be cut with water at a ratio of 3:1, just spray and if heavy dust/dirt agite lihghtly then wash off, do inside and out the same if you remove them. For protection a proper wheel sealant/wax would be best as these are designed...

Am i ordering the right stuff - PC Q

Is there any reason why you are going for the DAS kit? just that I and many others have found that the DAs pads although good don't come close to the SFX ones, better cut and finish. Also if you are thinking of doing the job properly while ordering from Autopia I would get extra pads, 2 of...

    Sonus polishes

I have used almost all of the Sonus range and it is quite under rated, you do almost need to learn how to use it to get the best out of it, especially the polish, but in general its very easy to use and will give great finishes. I know some say there is better on the market, but in reality its...

do u see swirl marks during the day

Depends on if you want to hide them or remove them? Hide, then AutoGlym SRP 2 or 3 coats followed by a good long lasting sealant and wax will do 90+% Removal, either buy a PC or find someone who can machine the car to remove them properly. As said above swirls are there in daylight its...
