Engine conrod snapped so had to have a transplant engine which was exactly the same spec. standard 172cup engine.
Was listed under modifications for engine as I have inlets matched + remap.
Just renewed my insurance and was dissapointed to find that your premium goes up if you have (like in my case) a engine replacement. (standard like for like)
how that can effect your insurance ill never knowafter all the there are no changes to the performance of the car.

Can any one find or provide me a guide on how to replace the bonnet release cable? renault wanting to charge me £140+ for the job
I think i can get the cable from a breakers yard for less and probally do it myself if the guide is good enough.

cheers paul, yeah making some positive progress now, really looking forward to getting her back, will be taking her out for a spin as soon as possible. All being well i wont have this problem ever again.

My question is now, when i get the clio back should i sell up? im really worried about the above happening again, its not like i raced my clio at every opportunity but on the same token I did enjoy from time to time putting my foot down, at what stage of driving hard does it become damaging to...
Well, unfortunately, like most people my job depends on me being able to get to work, and going down the small claims route will simply take too much time. therefore, i have managed to source a replacement engine which is 27k compared to my current 56-7k one.

do you think i have type of claim then? i really cant afford this to be a long drawn out process of whos responsible and who isnt, i need to be back on the road with my car asap. job depends on it.
aye finch, nope the warrenty was provided by the delaership (independant) its just Sounds ace on papper but worth fluff all in real life kinda thing, basically the 3rd party warrenty will cover for the damge on the engine but only upto the sum of £500 afterwards i have to find the remaining...
yeah, just getting quotes now from differing places, not looking good! think it may be better to sell to some one who can simply replace engine and get it going. cut my losses and all that, will be a bargin for someone, financial circumstance dictating on this one :( gonna get a banged up metro...
