I've got my 172 down to 832kg
Full glass and all metal panels. No cage.1 seat.
a very comprehensive weight-loss regime (stripped (- lots of kg), de-tarred(-8kg), a/c delete-4.4kg, lithium battery (-12.1kg), pms exhaust/manifold (-13.2kg) , compbrake brakes (-7.9kg) , sub 5kg wheels (-13kg)...
Have you tried the windows?
If i get that problem (although i think it is with a rapidly blinking red light, not a solid one) I just wind the drivers window down.
then while it is down press the down button again, so the relay (near the UCH) clicks. do that once or twice then give starting it a...
OLLYC90,
a message from australia.
you are a massive tool.
i race a clio, and it is way faster than any RWD in the wet. end of story.
i regularly win motorkhanas outright. why. because RWD cant apply power and handbrake at the same time.
in the dry my corner speeds are faster than almost all of...
front seats weigh 19kg each, not 33.
i have compiled a list on ozrenaultsport.com, but i will cut and paste it here

mostly just...
i have been battling with this problem for a couple of years.
i have been down the same path as plimsole and wasted lots of money tyring to find faulty bits.
I agree that the engine mounts seem to be the problem.
try an experiment..... in the drivers side upper engine mount, there is space for...
yep. Just like the yozz said, go back to the 172 plenam and all will be fine.
I will dyno it (RollingRoad) tomorrow and see whether it was worth it.
(rolling road makes me think of chocolate with nuts and marshmallows);)
wow thanks for all the responses.
I just had a chat with mighty yozza, who says don't use the 182 plenum, just the manifold.
I'm really glad to hear that my throttle body is not stuffed.
I couldn't play around too much tonight, as it is so late and my car is so loud (no back box), so I will...
Since putting it all back together it now idles ataround 3000 rpm.
What might i have mucked up while changing this over.
There is now a constant whine (or high buzz) from the throttle body.
while changing the throttle body over to the new plenum, I sprayed it with carby clean, and manually...
the acoustic valve is stuck on the end of the original caf.
replace the whole tube with some 80 mm stuff and use a 3" to 2.5" reducer to fit it into the standard airbox.
the acoustic valve is mounted on the same bracket as the horn.
higher than standard.
I'd like to lower it. been doing the best with what I got.
they are king springs, and I wanna go 1 inch lower.
I had eibacks that were too soft, so I'm using some that were lying around.
I'm in the market for new springs/shocks, and would appreciate advice on coilovers for...
don't forget the same belt drives your (very important) water pump, plus power steering, plus alternator.
I reckon I could supply the kits for about 50 quid. + 10 for postage.
It would take me a few days to do up a run of the aluminium bushes on a lathe.
the aircon doesn't weigh 20 kg's. i was hoping it would be a larger weight reduction, but it's actually 9.5kg all up (compressor, condensor, plus all underbonnet pipes.) There would be more weight under the dash if you stripped out everything, but it is not a lot because most of it is plastic...
Hey.
I worked out how to remove the aircon from my 172, easily without needing the whole cup alternator, brackets, pas hose etc.
I used an idler pully from an aussie car, and had to machine up some sleeves so it would fit, but it seems to work.
unfortunately i didn't get a dyno run beforehand...
have any of you ever felt how heavy the rear headrests are? most of the 89 kg came from that. ps and a standard 172 trophy seat weighs 18.5 kg. each.
I bet the cup ones dont. I live in australia and I would happily go without air con. I'm trying to remove mine in my 172 trophy as we never got...
