I worked out how to remove the aircon from my 172, easily without needing the whole cup alternator, brackets, pas hose etc.
I used an idler pully from an aussie car, and had to machine up some sleeves so it would fit, but it seems to work.
unfortunately i didn't get a dyno run beforehand, to see about hp gains, but it's definitely better.
I'm racing in production cars here in aus, so any gain is a good gain.
If a few people are interested I can machine up a few more sets of the adaptor collars, and sell them with the right pulleys, bolts etc.
sure beats hanging out for a crashed cup to pilfer expensive parts from.
