172 idling way too high with 182 plenum and RS inlet manifold

Since putting it all back together it now idles ataround 3000 rpm.
What might i have mucked up while changing this over.
There is now a constant whine (or high buzz) from the throttle body.
while changing the throttle body over to the new plenum, I sprayed it with carby clean, and manually opened it. could that have been a mistake?
I am assuming that the car should run fine with the RS manifold and 182 plenum.
Is there some sensor that I may have buggered up while changing them over.
please help, yozza, ben, anyone :S thanks
bryan
ps I am an aussie, but help me anyway.

throtle body always buzzes, you haven't broken it

sounds more like an air leak from the brake servo or one of the vacc lines off the back of the plenham

NO! 182 plenium does not fit! You should have noticed this when you fitted it! The bolt spacing is completely difference, Hence the over revving! Shame your in Aus!

I thought the 182 plenum was different to the 172s with mor pipes etc at the back of the plenum?

sounds like you have a vacum pipe off somewhere or you've not sealed something up by loosing a gasket etc. might just be a thought but have you got the rubber "o" ring fitted to the hole under the plenum because if you havn't u'll be suckign in air from there.

my 172 did this, turned out to be a air leak when re fitting the manifolds, check the the big hole thats under the top of the plenham ! where the rubber egg shaped seel is... mine wasnt sitting rite and caused an air leak

wow thanks for all the responses.
I just had a chat with mighty yozza, who says don't use the 182 plenum, just the manifold.
I'm really glad to hear that my throttle body is not stuffed.
I couldn't play around too much tonight, as it is so late and my car is so loud (no back box), so I will attack it freshin the morning.
Thanks again for the advice.

the 182 plenum has an extra breather near the throttle body. Block this up, should be ok?

yep. Just like the yozz said, go back to the 172 plenam and all will be fine.
I will dyno it (RollingRoad) tomorrow and see whether it was worth it.
(rolling road makes me think of chocolate with nuts and marshmallows);)

Aussies hijacking this thread

No backbox! Hmmm you try firing up a 600bhp XA GT or a 400bhp 308 HQ 4 door both with only straight pipes at 4am to go for a long road trip like my mate and I did last summer hols. That really gets the neighbours onside hehe.

Nice work fixing it up Brian - I'm confused though do you know have the 172 inlet manifold and a 182 plenum for sale?:S

  80MPG BEEZA
the 172 manifold has a hold under it where it seals over a bit that comes out of the head where the 182 manifold doesnt have it its already closed on the head...if anyone gets me i'd get pics but its to much hassle!
