If I wanted to disable ABS on a Clio Mk1 - if I remove the front sensors will that simply disable the ABS? Or would there be other implications of doing that? Cheers

No the nut won't start, you're right I reckon it would be okay once we get it on the threads. Will file it more and look for a rethreading tool as you suggest. Thanks a lot

Yep we, err, persuaded it out with a hammer - it was fairly well stuck in there! We'll try and file it some more and worst comes to the worst we'll replace it I guess. Figured a new shaft would be more than £100 from Renault as they seem a complete rip off. Cheers.

Bump - Car's stuck on axle stands till this is sorted.

When taking my R/H hub off the end of the driveshaft has slightly been dented (picture below). The hub nut doesn't slide over the end properly anymore - Would it be possible to just file this down? Also what do you suggest for replacing the ABS sensors on both hubs? Renault want £160 per...

Just to update - I actually managed todo it in a large vice :) new ones are in, just gotta shove the hubs back on the car now :)

Has anybody had their wheel bearings pressed out? How much is a mechanic/garage likely to charge for doing this? (If anybody has one of these in the Notts area then drop me a PM :))

OK - after trying a hub puller, a random other puller, and smacking it for a whole afternoon I still can't get the thing off :( Is it possible to take the CV off without taking the driveshaft out - I have read it isn't possible? What might have happened to stop it being able to come off...

Took my car in for wheel balancing the other day and the guy said I should get my front wheel bearings changed ASAP and it'll also sort out the crunching noise I get from moving the car on full lock (both ways). Just wanted to check the crunching sound was coming from there? Its definately not...
