Long time no see Warren, hope you are well mate.
I’ve got an R53 as well, key fob doesn’t work and I had the heater matrix changed last year when I bought it 🤣
They’re great fun though. I’ve done one track day in mine so far and have another booked with @JamesBryan in November.
I had a little drive in one whilst doing some trade plating driving (furlough boredom casual job) and I thought it was great.
the engine was really really cool and the switchover from the SC to the turbo is totally seamless and made interesting noises.
Enjoy OP!
Brilliant write up that. It makes me want another bike.
I laughed at throwing yourself off, I know the feeling of being in weather so bad you genuinely think you are going to die on the bike.
Me and my mate did a great trip a few years ago (me on a Triumph Street Triple and him a GSXR 600) to...

I insure my standard C63 with Admiral and they literally don’t care what you or your partner have driven previously.
Years ago I had a 172 and wanted to swap to a MX5 and Flux charged more because I had no RWD experience.
After 18 months in the MX5 I got a...
How do you go about attending these events?
I’ve just got a C63 and I’d love to take it on a runway. It’s a completely standard car so I’m not expecting 200mph it would just be good to see what it’s got.
A few tuners get 330 on a map. The guy who mapped mine is well respected amongst the BMW community so I’ve no reason to doubt the figures.
As I said it is identical to a stock M140i in terms of performance too so figures must be similar to the stock B58.
Yep mapped by Glen Wilding at GKR Performance. You know my brother Niall, if you drop him a message I’m happy to meet up if you have any questions or want a run out in the car.
The ZF8 is an amazing box. I’ve got it in my 330d which is mapped running 331bhp and 500 lb ft and it really is a quick daily.
I test drove an auto M140i and short of sounding nicer it felt no more fun than my 330d.
I suspect the locking diff and manual box goes a long way to sort that so I...
I had an Astra VXR Nurburgring for a year because I wanted the amazing noise they make. It wasn’t dynamically brilliant but it was miles better than people say they are, albeit mine was on coilovers.
Change the battery in the key. I had the same what I thought was an immobiliser issue in my 172 and it was just a dying key battery. Changed it and never had an issue again.
Fred at BTM grinded mine off for me at 8pm on a Friday night when I had a track day at Oulton the next day to replace an injector.
It was an emotional day @JamesBryan
As above I would just get a more mundane and comfortable car for that kind of commute.
I do my 56 mile round trip (takes an hour+ each way) in an F30 320d and it is significantly more pleasant than in the Astra VXR Burg that it replaced (which is in turn far more refined than a Clio).
Given...
I found the car was twitchy compared to my ph1 and James's 183.
Still it's an absolute hoot, driving a Clio on track is basically just varying levels of out of control.
One of my favourite points of the day was a dialog between myself and Niall which went like this;
Niall; Brett, I do not...
Having driven a 240 bhp TDI North tuned EP3 (decay manifold, cat back, K100 ECU and carbon airbox) half way to Le Mans and back I've got a good flavour of the EP3.
First up tuned they're fast - I sat with my mates mapped R26 away from a toll booth up to 130+ and got the legs on my other mates...
