£2200, I would rather it went to someone than to a garage mind.
Hence the sudden drop in price, there is nothing 'wrong' with it, just I want rid so I can get my motorbike :-)
I sold my Mx-5 about 6 months ago and that sold within two days and I had loads of offers.
Now absolutely nothing...
Hey there,
Anyone have any advice for selling cars at the moment?
My Ph1 is down to 2350 asking price, it isn't in bad condition, just average, few car park dents and so on. But this seems a complete bargain to me, I'm surprised someone hasn't bitten my hand off? :dapprove: It's on 72k and has...
Engine has a capacity of say 2 litres.
Each rpm half the cylinders draw in air, so 1 liter per rpm.
At 7000 rpm that is 7000 litres. Efficiency loss will knock say 10%? off that, somewhere over 6000 litres per minute, which is 212 cubic feet per minute.
Get the Wynn's throttle body and carb cleaner from halfrauds or similar. It comes in a spray can.
Yes, it does contain nasties. From the MSDS:
Ingredients
Chemical Entity: CAS Number: Proportion:
xylene [1330-20-7] 30-60%
acetone [67-64-1] 10-<30%
ethyl acetate [141-78-6] 10-<30%
butane...
Carbon build up is not too bad to sort though, either use a treatment thingy like: http://www.seafoamsales.com/motorTuneUpTechGas.htm or loads of throttle body cleaner down the intake (don't let the engine stall), this will clean out your plenum nicely too! Did this on my old Mx5 and it vastly...
Hi there,
Leak down test caused bubbles to appear in the expansion tank! Damnit! :dapprove:
I need a garage to do the head gasket change, so I have had some quotes Rentech ~800 inc new cam and aux kit, angelworks ~1000 but using genuine renault bits. But they are both miles and miles from me...
Looks like your power is flat after 5k rpm when it should still increase to 6.5ish, because your torque curve is peaking low down. Is your variable valve timing working? If the cam is not as advanced you won't make power at the top end.
Yeah, so just had the thermostat off again and the top rad hose and the thermostat were bone dry - no coolant came out when I undid the three bolts to the thermo housing. This is despite putting in over 5 litres of coolant (5.5ish?) at the weekend when I did the rad.
Bled it again when back...
Still doing it!
More info:
It is definitely only from cold first start up.
It is definitely the thermostat not opening.
And it is almost certainly because air is collecting in the top rad pipe and behind the thermostat causing it not to respond quick enough, so I'm getting temperature...
Remove the thermostat. Also watch it - if you have the bottom rad hose disconnected loads more coolant will come out when you do.
Located on the right hand side of the head. The top pipe from the expansion tank attaches to the housing, which also has the large bore top radiator hose - there...
Did it again for my gf, she was not impressed when I told her to open the expansion tank.
Spoke to renault and they reckon it is the head gasket. I'm not so sure having no mayonnaise, and no other issues. Although it will be if i can't stop it overheating. Does anyone have any other ideas...
If you always use vpower, the ecu will advance the timing because it can due to the higher octane rating to give higher power/fuel economy. When you fill up with c**p stuff the advanced timing will cause knock which the knock sensor will pick up. The ecu will then learn to r****d the timing, but...
Hey there,
Posting again :-( Long post.....
Have a weird problem where the coolant comes out of the expansion tank when the car gets really hot (not overheated, just say maintaining 100mph+ (runway) or sat in traffic for ages). I don't understand why it is doing it when it isn't getting hot...
Yes, you are fine until water completely covers the hole it will then instantly get sucked up. Puddles which are deeper than your foglight are a no no. It will drain out otherwise.
Do you mean you are driving along and the mile counter goes 99.7, 99.8, 99.9, 00.x?
Mine resets the mpg and trip every time I start it from cold - as the battery is getting lazy, but it is a different thing to above.
If as above - are you sure the 'hundreds' digit is actually working on the...
Doh! Just rechecked the routing. There are 3 or 4 clips the accel cable goes through - the first from the accelerator cable causes a really sharp down and then left bend in the cable (from drivers seat). Furthermore, I found that just beyond this clip there was a fairly tight down and up bend. I...
I followed your guide when i replaced the cable first time round - it was really helpful thanks.
I will make sure that the routing is exactly the same as in the pics again. I remember it clipped into all the existing clips fine and looked similar at the time.
Yes, the revs frequently stick...
Hi there,
I find the throttle control on my 172 Ph1 absolutely rubbish compared to my MX5 and i was wondering why!
The problem is that the accelerator is so hard to push that it is (nearly) impossible to use small throttle openings correctly. If you want to open the throttle a little bit...
There is a guide to changing the gearbox oil.
I did it slightly differently: undo the filler hole, which is a pain to get to. Rather than pi**ing around trying to poke spouts in there and so on, on top of the gearbox is a plastic cover thingy about 3cm x 4 cm. Unclip the top of it which...
Not good, topping up green with pink causes a reaction which gives you a horrible gunge which blocks the rad. To change from the green stuff to the pink you need to drain and flush, then fill it up.
How do I know? I did it - two weeks later I had a brown jelly substance all over everything. I...
Mine did this. The washers stopped working, but it still made the humming noise. I had to remove the pump (easy - lift the scutlle panel and just tug the pump - it comes straight out). Then on the end of the pump the hoses attach to, unclip it so that the pump separates into two bits. inside...
