Noticed that my front o/s wheel had a lot of play in it. On inspection i found that the threads on the drive shaft were knackered, and the nut would just spin rather than tighten.
Bought a new drive shaft and nut and just fitted, got the nut nice and tight, but there's still play there.
Is...
Just realised that im talking rubbish here. The cam belt will be ok but will the aux belt?
The aux belt snapped and made the timing belt jump. Bent all the valves and knackered a cam. £1500 to fix, so i got another engine.
Just bought a 172 engine as my cup engine belt up. The new engine has just had new belts and pulleys fitted which is a bonus, or so i thought. Are the belts the same with the 172 engine having the air con unit on? I was going to whip this off and bin it, but if that means i'll need a new belt is...
what other cars have the same rear calipers as the 172 cup?
N/S has seized up and needs replacing. My local salvage spot have a 2005 DCi in, do these even have rear disks, if so are they the same?
Cheers :D
Its a 172 cup.
I just got back from fitting new ht leads which seemed to cure the problem for about 10 minutes. The car drove fine, no hesitation or misfire. I gave it some beans down the bypass and when i pulled up at the lights the idle was lumpy as hell and it was popping and farting...
Bought a coil pack, NGK plugs and some HT leads off a guy on pistonheads. Plugs and coil pack seem ok but i can't seem to get the ht leads on the spark plugs.
The HT leads seem a bit rubbery and floppy compared to the ones i have on at the moment, and its as if they're flexing when i try to plug...
Have a similar problem with mine so took it to Renault this morning for a diagnostic check. Computer came up with nothing so i took the mechanic out for a spin and he agreed that there was a definate misfire. £67 lighter and no nearer sorting the problem. Just something for you to consider...
Replaced plugs and coil and still have this misfire problem. Did have some spare leads to try too, but they wouldn't fit for some reason. Looked exactly the same as the ones on the clio, but just ouldn't go on, anyone else had this?...
..but back to the misfire. Had on a machine a few weeks...
Bit of a long shot but...
I just forked out £63 for some plugs for the missus' 172 cup and it hasn't sorted the problem. Been having problems on and off for a month now and i don't want to fork out on a new coilpack if its not that.
Near skipton by the way :D
er...cheap crappy ones as i didn't wanna fork out on the ngk ones until i was sure it was definately the plugs. Doesn't seem like the same kind of misfire as before though. Think its worth changing them again?
Nah changed all 4 plugs! hehe
This feels completely different to when it was missing due to the spark.
The weather might be a bit of a red herring, but i can't help but think that that must have something to do with it. I noticed on the way back tonight that there's a bit of a vibration/rasp...
Nah no lights on, and it just sounds normal at idle. It was missing the other week and i had it put on diagnostics machine and then changed the plugs which fixed that problem. Its been running fine since then.
It feels a bit like when the mix was out on our old mini. When you floor it its like...
Just near Skipton, North Yorkshire.
Just an update - been out in it again and i'm not sure it is down to the water. When you floor it the revs build up to over 2k but then really struggle around 3k. It feels like the brakes are being applied, the nose of the car dips and then it clears and...
Hey chaps
Had to go rescue the missus tonight after she phoned saying thye car had lost all power.
Its been raining non stop all day here, and as such there's massive amounts of water about. She was coming the back way home, and the road was more like a river when i got to her. I jumped in and...
I'm after a spare wheel for my 172 cup. Just wondered what the options were, or what others had used.
I'll probably just get a steelie off another clio/renault from the scrappers.
Would it need to be over a certain size to clear the front disks?
I have read a few other threads about this but haven't found a definate answer.
My 172 Cup has done 58k. When i pull away with little revs the car judders until the clutch is fully out. I can get around this by giving it more revs and slipping the clutch. When i say more revs i mean a lot more...
I bought a full system from them and i'm not happy at all for a few reasons. Going to ring them tomorrow and see if they are willing to sort it out for me. I'll let you know what the outcome is.
Haha not really, was having a good old shiuffle about though trying to find my ass groove.
Will have to go out and start taking stuff in bits, just wanted to know if there was a specific area i should look first.
I was shuffling about in the drivers seat and i put all my weight on the handbrake lever and door and the handbrake seemed to clunk down a little bit. Now when i pull the handrbrake to roughly the same angle that it needed to be at before, it comes past the ratchet.
Would it be possible to...
My cup had a Scorpion system on when i bought it. I've just taken it off and put a standard one on. The scorpion would smack into the bumper every now and then, looked turd, and didn't sound that great either.
That said, you can have it if you wanna come and get it? Otherwise it'll be going to...
