Front wheel hub play?

Car  172 Cup, Freelander
Noticed that my front o/s wheel had a lot of play in it. On inspection i found that the threads on the drive shaft were knackered, and the nut would just spin rather than tighten.

Bought a new drive shaft and nut and just fitted, got the nut nice and tight, but there's still play there.
Is there a bearing in the hub that could be knackered? What else could cause play if the hub nut is as tight as pos?

Help please!

Prob will be the bearing but be sure to check the bottom ball joint, track-rod end and bottom arm bushes to see if they're the cause of your free play.

They are replaceable yes but its not a DIY job i'm afraid unless you've got a decent bearing press in your kitchen.
