Plugged a code reader in last night. Apprently is Throttle position sensor failure. Not sure how correct it is but im going to clean all the throttle body out (quite hope i find aload of crap in there keeping the buttifly open then going to check the wiring to the ECU.
James
Thanks ill check under there. I got a feeling it maybe to do with it getting wet. Ive left the battery off over night and going to have a go later today. Ive got a code reader now so hopefully can shed some more light on what fault it is. Also going to check the wiring to the ecu because that...
Hi,
I got a 2004 clio 1.6. the engine managment light has come on and so has the glow plug and another light which is a square box with a wavy line in it. The car now appears to be running in limp mode. does any one have any idea of what this is? ive taken the battery off for 30mins, checked all...
Is the 172 or 182 suspension lower and will it give better handling compared to the standard suspension in my 1.6 dynamique? or am i better off buying an after market set?
thanks
Im not 100% sure about this but i know on my car (focus) it has a bearing halfway down one of the driveshafts and if that fails it will destory the drive shaft. Maybe worth checking that (if it has one!)
if it has automatic climate control which iirc the 172 has, it doesnt have a resistor pack. The thing that is bolted inline from the motor air outlet with the silver heatsink sticking out of the bottom of it is an electronic dc motor controller. Its just over £100 for a new one from a dealer. I...
Hi,
I seem to have a re-occuring problem. When i leave my car overnight then try and start it in the morning it runs like a bag of s**t and unless i keep my foot on the acclerator it will cut out. It totaly fine once its warmed up. Ive recently chanaged temp sensor, coils, spark plugs etc. Its...
Hi, Ive jus had my cambelt, tensioners and water pump changed at 65,000miles Ive jus read that if the aux belt snaps it can take out the cam belt too? is this true? also is it ment to be changed at the same time as a cam belt? My aux belt hasnt been changed!
thanks
ok thanks. Only trouble is ive read somewhere its between 6k-7k when its cold. Think that was on a 1.4 so they maybe diffrent!
Thanks though, i will check tonight!
Hi
Can someone do me a massive favor?
Ive got a fault with my clio thats pointing to the CTS. Has anyone got or can get some resistance readings from the sensor e.g. stone cold and up to temperture. Preferbly from a MK2 clio 1.6 but im pretty sure there wont be much diffrence between engine...
lol so was i each time i looked at my bank balance afterwards! but in my defence they are known to be pretty weak and on there limit for the engine i had and 1 of the gearboxes that was supposedly brand new, had a massive crack around the diff casing that had been filled with filler and painted...
Also i know its pretty obvious but i have seen people do other things, have a fuse holder in line on the power cable as close as possible to the battery.
Nope engine is completely standard. lol no i dont rag it at all, its my girlfriends car and i have a history of destroying gearboxes (on my 5th in my focus) so i drive like a proper grandad because i know if i broke anything i would lose my balls!
cars completely standard apart from 16" clio 172 wheels which make no diffrence because it was the same with the standard 15's.
Im not sure if it would have something to do with my other thread about the temp sensor. It goes down to 2bars quite often and im not sure if the ecu would think...
Ive done a few long journeys on the motoway too london from my house (portsmouth) i reset the computer and drive at around 60-70mph barely touching the accelartor and not slowing down or doing any real accleration and still only get 35-37mpg
Hi,
My temp gauge doesnt seem to stay in one place. It warms up and goes down quite often. Usally when im on the motor way it will go down to 2 bars then go up to 4 bars. Could this be a faulty temp sensor? Sometimes it seems abit harder to start when it cold as well. Could this be due to the...
Its recently had 4 new tyres and i check them at least 2 times a month, always at 32psi. I did a service on it bout 1000miles ago including new air filter, oil filter and oil, spark plugs and coil packs.
I know its only a few mpg off but with the price of petrol and the fact i got more out of...
Hi, hope this is in the right section.
Ive seen on the net that im ment to get 40+mpg on a run out of my 04 clio 1.6 quite easily. The most i can possibly manage is under 35mpg and that is driving so so carefully. Just normal driving i get between 32-34mpg.
Is the 40mpg figure abit ambitious...
in theroy u should change all four coil packs at the same time. So i would recomend doing them all. If some have gone chances are the others arent too far behind.
Yea there quite easy to check without using anytools. Just look where the antiroll bar meets the front wishbone. Its just below the knucle. There should be a torx bolt that goes throught it to a nut underneath. If they both are on ethier side and look ok it maybe worth giving them a pull because...
Anti roll bar drop links? Mine was making a knocking nosie but as soon as i got on motor way it stoped. The sloshing noise probably is your petrol tank but as your listening out for noises as you have the knocking noise you will notice other noises too!
cheers for that! Ive taken the speed controller apart and have found a fault with the MOSFET device so am going to replace it. Hopefully it will cure the problem and will be ALOT cheaper than shelling out £100 for a new one!!
Hi, last night my blowers inside my clio decided to give up. (it has climate control btw) Does'nt matter what speed i have it set to i just get nothing! Im going to strip it out tonight. Is it likely to be the resistor? and does anyone have a rought idea of the price of a new one?
thanks in...
Hi,
I got a 2004 clio 1.6, its developed a quite loud knocking noise from the front drivers side. I can feel it through the floor too. Ive checked all the exhaust mounts, swaped the complete front strut out and visual inspected as much as i can over that side. The anti roll bar does'nt seem to...
