Alot of people over on williams clio have had this problem lately, myself included.
I changed the clutch and cable to no avail, in the end i found that the tensioner spring on the pedal ratchet mechanism had worn. It's a right pain in the arse to change the pedal though - nearly broke my...
Just bought a willy engine on ebay. However, i want to 100% make sure it's a willy engine before driving 250 miles to collect it!
I know that you can identify them via the extra strengthening veins on the back of the block, and have asked the current owner to get pictures for me.
He's sent...
Update!
Checked plugs - no spark.
Checked fuel supply - plenty! (and some all over my face i might add!)
Took the crank sensor off, and gave it a clean. Put it back, hey presto - it started first turn of the key!
It wasn't even that dirty to be honest. Must've just been a bit too...
Earlier, left the car unlocked to wait for the immobiliser to go off. Went back to it and it was turned off, as the orange light was flashing at me with ignition on. I put my head under the car whilst i turned ignition on, and the fuel pump still primes, even with it immobilised. So i think i'd...
Ok, just had another look.
The rev counter definitely doesn't move when you try start it.
However, when you turn the key to the ignition position, the needle bounces a tiny bit up. What does that mean?
All the guards are there as from the factory. Managed to find her a mint unmodified car for a change!
As i said, it could be any of what i posted above, and maybe a few more things to add! Before i start taking it apart, i just wanna know if it sounds like that sensor? Do you know if the rev...
Tried doing a search on this, but can't find what i'm looking for.
Mrs' 16v clio N reg isn't starting for some reason.
Car was running perfectly, then she woke up in the morning to go to work, and it turned over but would not fire up.
Haven't got round to checking there's fuel coming...
Funny this - i had an RT about a year ago.
I had EXACTLY the same problem! However, i couldnt for the life of me figure out where it was coming from! Still wondering to this day!
Now the thing with this is that i didnt have any problems at all - until i got the car re-sprayed.
Now when i...
What we talkin?
Plugs, leads, dizzy cap & rotor arm. Oil flush and change.
Air filter, oil filter, fuel filter.
Anything ive missed that should be done?
Cars not been serviced for quite a while i imagine - shouldnt make that much difference surely though?
I thought they were more VTS pace too!!
This is a 19 were talking about by the way - not a clio. But on the road theyre meant to be virtually identical performance wise, only difference...
His saxo has the newer engine.
Ill give him respect, it is quick for a VTR - ive been in it.
My 19s running as it should be. Just its dead slow until you get into that blummin power band!
I managed to keep up with the old VTRs in my old RT too.
Lol
I took it to about 6900 in the first 3 gears - then ran out of road!
Im just very confused as to how this has possibly happened?!?!?!?!!!!
& I cant let it happen again!
So more power??? De-cat??????
Im a bit irritated now - just had a quick blast with my mates Saxo VTR and my 19 16v.
His has only got a de-cat and induction kit - mines just got induction. It took me till 4th gear, then i only ever so slowly started to go past.
I cant be doin with bein the same as a VTR!! What can i do to...
Doesnt that only clean the leather though?
Ive not long a 19 16v with black leather - the fronts are quite badly cracked in that too. What ive done is bought some black car polish and rubbed it in.
You can still see where the cracks are, but it looks a damn sight better than white cracks...
Which alloy pins did you get?
On my old RT i bought those blue L.E.D. ones. The alloy pin on that was stuck onto a bar just like the old pin.
I had to saw the old bar a little bit down, then just connect the 2 bars up. There was a little clip thingy supplied, so they were screwed together...
Essex_Lad, youll probably need to get your head unit out.
I think the rivet, if i remember right, is behind the heater controls or there abouts.
Basically, just take your time.
Why not do what i did, and spray the main part of the dash whilst in the car? It mightve taken me 2 hours to mask...
If you mean alloy door pins, theres a little clip inside the door which you prise off (annoying, fiddly, skin removing job though!), then the whole thing comes out complete with the metal wire! Then just hack saw the old door pin off, then line up the new ones and tighten up - easy!
Or i...
Not long had new arches on my valver.
Mine were REALLY rusty though.
Instead of paying £260 per rear quarter panel, we bought a universal arch, which you can shape to whatever. Come out really really well, and i wont be worrying about the rust coming back.
Worth doing proper first time...
LISTEN TO MAXIBOY!!!!
I made the BIG mistake of drilling many pop rivets out from awkward angles! Only to discover there was still summut holding the dash in!
In the end i found out it was a bit black plastic clip at the top in the middle, you just turn it.
The rest is pretty straight...
Funnily enough, i started work on filling mine in last night!
Personally, there is NO WAY i wouldve put fibreglass in there. That stuff you could hardly call flexible!
What ive done so far, is first tack in several nuts into the groove both sides, then placing metal strips over them, weld...
I believe theres 2 yellow wires.
1s the normal ignition live, the others the one where all the dash lights are on.
Summut like that anyway. Was in the max haynes manual!!!
well the wheel nuts are tight, coz the wheels have been off umpteen times lately!
and it aint gonna be anything to do with the engine, coz the engines completely out at the moment!
Now you mention it, im thinking it feels like its coming from right by me, i.e. summut to do with the rack.
Cheers mate, ill have to pop & have a play with it!
You on about the top of the suspension?
The car doesnt even have to be moving. I can just wiggle the steering wheel slightly, and clunk clunk. Not a massive clunk exactly, but very noticeable.
