This was a real treat. I don't actually have any experience shooting motorsport but thought I would give it a go. Since I was with friends and colleagues, I didn't want to ditch them and go elsewhere so stayed around the Brooklands area for these. Sadly, the only thing I would like about these...
Whilst I was shooting my friends RX-7, another couple of mates were about including an incarnation of hell on earth, a tasty R33 Skyline running around 800bhp on the RB30 lump. Will hopefully get my hands on this again soon alongside an ex time attack contender :)
A friend has finally got a single turbo conversion done on his car along with a few other bits. Car is totally mental and he wanted some photos. Few things I would do different editing/processing wise but meh.
1D mkIIn and Sigma 85 1.4 for these
Did not like getting up at that time but needs are a must. Good day overall. Nice to go back after being away for a few years.
Some photos from the day.
Loved this

Rig being used
Ok this is more video based geekyness but meh!
Been looking for a decent dolly style setup for a while that is easy enough to transport. I was going to make one myself but time is such a pain right now so I asked around and the same name came up every time.
Bought me a 1 meter Glidetrack...
So last night was low light testing as well as being there for family. :) Today it was time for bright sun and shooting in the day. Main thing I have been keen to test out has been the Sony Dynamic Range Optimiser....which in theory should help brighter areas from blowing out.
One key thing I...
Well time for some low light pics (non flash). Have to say, even with basic NR, overall results and handling of variating light, the NEX-5 held its own very well.

Feel free to crack on through the set. Bit day tomorrow for cars. :)
After waiting months and months, they finally got released. Presenting my new replacement to the 1D mkII. Sony NEX-5! Going to serve as a everyday body/combo and slowly move towards building up some nice Zeiss behind it.
So far, IQ has not been a let down at all! Nicely sharp overall and only...
Before we start, I have yet to go through the rest of these or edit these ones. I also have not really worked with models or people at all so this was a first timer for me. Not really used a studio properly yet let alone lights so was a bit nervous.
Thought I would share some of my favourites...
Well I got close. Killed nearly 800 frames with the 1D mkII.
My 798 frame time lapse is finally online! Annoyingly, audio seemed to be a pain to add without lagging the laptop! One photo was taken every 10 seconds for this.

After months of deciding and debates, I finally switched...
Picked this up on the weekend
Got a good trade for my 5D. :) Needed better AF in low light conditions. Such a sweet toy.
One sample for now.
And one other reason (poor compression here)
So it finally came to this. It was going to happen sooner or later but its happened sooner than I thought. I came across this BMW for a great price so made the move.
My Clio which I will miss vs the new motor
Hard to see but HID's in there. They work damn well from my drive just now!
Its...
Ok here is the story, my DCi has been fantastic throughout till I got to Birmingham on Saturday.
Had my music down, pulled out of a road and then as I acelerated, I could hear a ticking picking up speed. If I feathered the throttle it wasnt there, only when I put my foot down full.
When I now...
I love rainy days. Means I stop being lazy and break out some flashes. Heres some of my attempts during my learning process.

So I headed out with a few mates to Watford for bit of a meet/shoot. Heres some of the pics. Plan to clone out some of the bg like poles/bins etc later.
Enjoy

Heres some photos from my weekend. Was at the big tournament at the weekend, Roll Britannia where teams from across UK and Europe headed to.
Wikipedia - Rollerderby if you need more info on the sport.
Combo for these was a Canon 5D and Canon's 200mm 1.8L
Found some Canon style red card while cleaning up :) Thought I would muck about. Then got annoyed that catchlights on lenses are a pain to nail on a 135L so I came up with another new wallpaper.

Right, another light shot. I know tequila is not clear. :lol

The setup
I finally got out for a while and headed into the city to meet up with other POTN'er and tried to ponder a bit about primes vs zooms. This was a day with my 135L which just shines.
Heres some photos from the day.

Ok so boredom got the best of me. :) Not really a fancy subject but meh, just thought I would share since I was pretty chuffed with this one.
Started at about 9pm and finished at 12pm. Photo was taken every 10 seconds so it resulted in about 800 frames. :)...
So it was that time again, another event! Another double bout night and boy were the teams up for it. Here some shots from the first round.
Finally me having a random moment of boredom during rounds.
First day EVER shooting Football/Soccer. :) This was at Fulham/Cravern Cottage.
Ok, got through a few pictures. 20% keeper rate. About 100 which I liked so I am pretty happy with that for my first time. Lighting was sooo harsh!

Got contacted about shooting some work for a bar looking to promote itself so I headed down for the night. Who knew the 135L/85 1.8 would be great for a bar! I was worried that I would have to be with the 17-40L all night.
