Title says it all really, 172 phase 1, when I change down into 3rd to over take it seems a bit tight, a bit of a crunch. Ive played about with gear changes but it seems relevant to revs as in if I allow it to slow down it goes in fine. Car has done 58k, any ideas?

Driving home tonight and went to wind up my window only to hear a loud creak, not abnormal in its self, but the bang which followed was. Any ideas what this could be and do I risk using it until i investigate further?
been thinking of lowering my 172 but cant weigh up the pros and cons, I dont want slammed, just to even up the arch gap. Ive been thinking 30mm, whats the general thoughts on brands and how diyable is it with moderate experience. Dom
bought one off ebay but it only deals with 1.2 1.4 1.6 16v pet. and 1.9 diesel, i thought the one i lost had all these and 2.0 16v, am i right? any one know where i can get one? Dom

Im such a fool, after looking under my passenger seat and finding no autochanger and reading on here about people finding them after several months I found mine! under the drivers seat, so whats that plastic thing under the passenger side for?
Getting really annoyed now, Ive been looking for a standard ph1 172 for weeks ideally with less than 80k but everyone I come across is either scruffy or some one has mucked about with it. What do you peeps think of the one at Oaklands on Autotrader? would link it if i was capable. Dom
