    could be an air leak . check all your vaccum pipes

    would it not be easier to use an f7/4r as a conversion ? more reliable . my ol gtt was forever going wrong . push rod carb engine vs modern lump ?     i have taken the gearbox off mine as well . . . . . . . also get yourself some sticky labels and label everything up before you go mad un-plugging everything . might be worth changing the cambelt over on the new engine as its out and anything else thats hard to get to such as water pump etc will...

    brilliant guys thanks . my main concern was wiring related . i have labeled everything up on the f7r loom just wondered if i can use the excisting loom and ecu or new bits and/or a combination . i havent received my 172 engine yet so have no way of looking for reference

    hey guys i dont know anyone personally who has attempted this so i turn to you . im going for a ph1 172 engine with cable operated throttle body . things i need to know work from the current set up [williams] i.e loom,driveshafts,mounts etc and things i need to get from the donor vehicle. also...

    100% standard cars

    my williams is factory.just sold the 106 which was stripped,cat cammed,open filtered,mapped with a custom straight through.i do miss the 106 cos it was raw but i dont think i would ruin the williams doing it.some cars are better modified [my s1 rst was crap standard]
