All vehicles sold since 1997 have had to legally include an immobiliser by law, certainly for the UK and probably for all of Europe.
I'm guessing that the immobiliser in your documentation is a special one. Perhaps you selected it, or the person on the end of the phone just found one under...

Do the UK models not have this problem for changing wipers?
I was in the mountains, and the car got covered in snow. I lifted the left wiper (driving one) and found afterwards that its arm interferes with the bonnet. It scraped paint off the edge of the bonnet at that point. Everything seems to be in the right place, so I assume there is a "Renault" way...
Hey all.
I have a Clio, bought new last month, and have a few questions for you. Note that I am in France (with work) and imported it brand new, but cheap, and so missed a thing or two:
A) The computer is in French, which isn't too hard to understand, but is there any way to make it English...
I definitely have the sensor box on the windscreen, all seems to be in place, the manual etc. But, I can't seem to activate the headlights. Any tips?
The car's fantastic apart this annoyance. I wish there was just a permanent "auto" position, like on most other makes.
Having done a more thorough search, a lot of people suggest leaving the engine off, and trying more than twice. I'm sure I did this morning, but will give that a shot.

The car has the large detector on the top of the windscreen, and I recall seeing auto headlights/wipers in the spec. However, they don't appear to...
