FYI, he could have saved himself a lot of bother if he'd have a bit of spare cash for the conversion

I imagine one of these should go very well on the road.
It's been rumoured there are some small orange fellas that come out in the small hours of the morning who can fit a set of throttle bodies in just an hour... (bit of an in joke so won't make sense to most!)
There are plenty of 197 rally cars in europe running around 240-250bhp (obviously with more engine work). There are lots of cars out there that never make it onto the t'internet, especially race/rally cars.
Congrats Matt. Glad you got it all together in the end. Looks like a proper job, as...
No, not the PX600. This is a filter made entirely of foam, with some meshing inside to give it some strength. There is no backplate, or outer "frame" to support the filter foam. The "backplate" is another panel of foam with holes cut into it that you stretch over the ram pipes and it supports...
Glad to be of service. Clio on throttle bodies for a run around? Does the job I suppose :P
Give it a flash if you see it again. Might not be me driving though, so if you get a funny look don't be offended!
I didn't realise they had used pipercross before hand. I have only seen the ITG one, so that makes sense to me. I agree ITG are the best quality foam filters I have seen.
I've never heard that, but haven't really looked into them. I had a look at one of those filters not too long ago at a rally show and it looked OK to me. I would think that damage caused to the filter by improper fitment/squashing etc to get it to fit on (or damage caused by it moving around...
Jamsport will know the best as they did it to Ben's car. I haven't had chance to do it on our car yet, so its still running the socks and the standard unmodified slam panel.
The KTech ITG filter should be OK as long as you can keep it from sliding down the ram pipes. This might be easiest with...
Indeed you should be very proud. What I have seen is great stuff.
Not sure I'll be a Brands, I think I'm on holiday that week. Are you at snett during the year? What is the website for the organising club and I'll check the dates.
Thanks,
John.
And you didn't invite me to travel all those 8 miles to snett to come and have a look at it? :rasp:
If you're coming back this way drop me a line.
P.S. it's good you're passing the scrutineering, but I always found it very inconsistent, so just because it was fine at one round, doesn't mean...
Ford Duratec engine for european autograss car. Lots of money spent, lots of performance :)
@Symon
Yes there isn't a lot between the two kits in reality. As long as you use a good tuner who will get the most out of your set up you'll be fine I'm sure.
Unfortunately (it's a nice try) but that makes the graph completely useless either way you want to look at it. Different cars, set ups, engine conditions, dynos, tyres, gearbox condition, etc etc etc
Comparisons should only be done on same engine (prefereably on engine dyno) at controlled...
I don't have that for a Clio engine sorry. But I have it for others by request (email).
Intake length is variable depending on whether you want to keep standard radiator and bonnet catch etc. I think we've seen that using the longer set up with an airbox can give extremely healthy torque - but...
Hi Guys,
VERY WELL DONE! Looks like a nice result for power there. Lots of torque certainly - and I know what you mean by not quite being able to say 200bhp and 170lb/ft, but on a different day etc etc..
I know you were very busy and late so I don't expect you managed it, but did you try a...
Hi Tony,
Didn't realise you had a build blog. Car looks really good. You should have the longer extensions by now. Best of luck when you go to Tour-De-Force for mapping :)
John.
Re: Project 172 *** ITB'S - 204bhp *** Sausage filter fitted Page 15
looking really good there Ben. I like the breather set up and the painted cover.
In reply to Jamie - the throttles are an oval shape, not round like others. This makes it hard to say what size it is, but area wise it is the...
Re: Project 172 *** Update page 10 -ITB'S - 204bhp ***
Good result there boys. I believe it was 159lb/ft of torque as well. Not bad for a standard engine :)
Hope you enjoy it Ben.
Thanks,
John.
Re: Project 172 **** Update page 9 -ITB'S ****
I think hutchie is talking about a set of tapered extensions we did for the rally car (42 up to 50mm diameter). As he says it didn't seem to make much difference.
The system jamsport are using is deliberately on the short side so the radiator...
Yes it has two contactless hall effect TPS sensors. One on each pair of bodies. We have been developing the sensor with a global sensor company. I want to be able to fit hall affect sensors onto all our TB's so a failing TPS will be a thing of the past.
John.
Hi guys,
The AT Power throttle body kits are just the throttle bodies and bracketry needed to fit them. We can supply ECU's as well, and if you use the Typhoon ECU we can arrange for fitting and mapping as well - but I suggest people use RS Tuning for that.
The throttle bodies will reuse the...
Bloody nice one!!
I also was sent this youtube video. It's of a chap who works for Brawn GP - his orange mini #145 running our DCOE throttle bodies on his vauxhall 1.4 engine. He was suitably impressed with the improvement to his car,

I'm well...
Obviously the guy peddling isn't too bad either :-) Yes what matters at the end of the day is how the car performs, and if you're happy I'm happy. Best of luck with the rallying, and I think it's great a successful team like yourselves has got our throttles on it. Keep me up to date on how you...
Yeah should be better with sequential box. What tyres are you using on the rollers? I have had problems in the past with slicks on race cars, can overheat and stick to the rollers giving big losses. I always recommend keeping a set of wheels with scrub road tyres on for dyno testing etc.
I'm...
Interesting result Alistair. I'm curious as to what you mean about the timing. 12deg is very retarded, it's about what you would use at idle.
Out of interest what rolling road was it on? 49bhp losses sounds a lot - but I have seen some rolling roads give out figures like that in the past...
