As above, any easy way of telling? Lumpy idle, all other diagnosis has come up with nothing so is there an easy way of checking if my car has aftermarket cams? I saw someone mention looking under the oil cap but what am I looking for to differentiate normal vs afternarket cams?
Done s search but no definitve answer.
Any idea of correct part numbers for 172 Cup handbrake cables? And where to buy, and what aftermarket ones fit?
Various threads saying not available at renault, or that Phase 1 cables should be used, other threads saying 182 cables fit.
What's correct...
Anyone good at reading/diagnosing from Live data? LONG TERM (-20%) and SHORT TERM (flutcuates betwen -8 and -18%) fuel trims are quite hefty minus figures - does this mean it’s running rich, which in turn can cause a lumpy idle?
So far its had:
- new MAP sensor
- new coolant temperature...
Eg mats, boot net, spare oil bag in blue? Tool kit?
Interested to know what came included with the car as standard!
If anything actually came with it haha
172 Cup - runs very well. Cambelt done under 2 years ago so not due.
Idle becomes lumpy maybe a minute after cold start.
I know they are fairly lumpy but what diagnostic procedure should I follow rather than firing a parts cannon at it? 😁 Its no biggie as it drives superb but wouldnt mind...
Not been on here for a while, used to be an enthusiastic member before I part ex'd my Clio. Was wondering if it's still around? Be interested to hear!
Cheers
Just wondering if anyone on here now owns by old car - she was a 2002 black 172 with 182 wheels. Reg was RY02 VVX. Traded it in January for a '07 Civic Type R to a garage in Tredegar then I think they passed it to a garage in Blackwood.
Cliosport.net sticker left in the back window :)
Cheers.

No affiliation, I part ex'd my 172 for a Civic Type R and I spotted it was sold on to another garage and they now have my old 172 up for sale...
Would be a decent buy for someone if it...
Hi guys
Not sure if I'm imagining it but recently I thought that my engine might be sounding a little odd.
I fancy there's a whooshy/whiny type noise....kinda hard to describe as it's neither a whoosh or a whine but somewhere between the two! It's the higher pitched noise in the vid.
Car is...
Fans have decided to stop blowing any air whatsoever, control panel all appears to work fine.
Before I change the resistor pack can anyone shed any light on what fuse does what in the engine bay? Inc relays?
Want to check them before shelling out on a resistor pack as I only changed the...
Hi guys
Have a problem that my windscreen washer motor is not working. When I pull the stalk back I can hear the fuses clicking, but the motor does not make a sound.
It does sometimes work for one squirt, perhaps once in every 25 times I pull back the stalk.
I've checked the power and there...
Odd one, my wiper motors are only working now and again. The back works less than the front. Sometimes the front starts working fine.
Any advice as to where the motors are located or any ideas? Are there two seperate motors for front and rear?
Thanks
Alex
Spotted RB with stripes behind me coming from Aberdare friday afternoon approx 4.30....
.....then a RB with stripes on A470 towards mountain ash, cliosport.net sticker in rear window!
Seen a load of 172 and 182's around the Porth area in the Rhondda of late, many more than 6 months ago!
In particular a nice black 182 (rg ED55??), monaco 172, silver 172 and a terrible chromed-up RS replica!
Anyone on here? Mine's an 02 black 172 with 182 wheels
Currently using R222 Carnauba Wax but I find it's not 'wet look' enough, and does not last very long.
Any recommendations for a black 172 wax wise?
Usual routine is Megs Gold Class -> AG SRP -> AG Ultra Deep Shine -> AG EGP or Poorboys sealant -> R222 wax.
Cheers!
Following my thread earlier about having the tracking done on the Hunter system.
I've now had the tracking done on the Hunter system however my car is still pulling to the right, and to drive straight the steering wheel has to be pushed over to the left.
Now, the tracking has been done, and...
Taken my car to three different garages now (local/Sh*t Fit/Nationwide) of varying sizes to sort my tracking out, as my car is pulling to the right.
Had everything else checked out so it's only a tracking problem. Each time the garages have said "Oh it's pretty out, we've sorted it now" and...
Spotted on my way home from work...about 5.10pm
Blue 197 (or 200??) with a red 172 or 172 replica (couldn't get a good look, black wheels)
Red pulled into Rhondda Valet, beeped to bluey then I was behind the blue in my black 172.
