Finally got to the bottom of it and it was one of the injectors. Swapped the injectors about and the fault moved so ordered a replacement one and problem is solved. £65+vat for the injector. Hope this helps a few people as its driven me mad for nearly a month!

I've exactly the same problem with my girlfriends clio. Changed the coilpack (comes wth HT leads attached) and although its improved it, it still hasn't gone away. See my other post for a bit more detail. Its going into my mates garage hopefully this week or next to get a diagnostics done...
