Its got full service history when I got it and I have serviced it every 5K tops.
Bodywork is good too :)
Its not had the block and head separated or anything it's simply had rod bolts, cams etc changed so not a re-build as such. I apologize if that's how it came across!
Thanks Jack!

Just need a diesel for work, looking for an A3?

Yeh goes well :) quite impressed with the torque spread compared to just having cams, certainly feels alot stronger!
Surely around 190bhp is about max air flow for running standard inlet/throttle setup? As 428's, 421's and now 438's are all making a "peak" figure of around this? :)
My cup with a decat exhaust, panel filter, matched inlets and 421's on TDF's rollers made 191.5bhp with 169.3lbs/ft so this RR print out is a good comparison of the two cam types for those of you interested :)
Then last week I had ITB's fitted :D
And now the graph looks like this.... (shorter...
Matt @ TDF will see you right! Had a set of 421's, matched inlets, panel filter, decat exhaust, one of matts ecu's along with a map from him and the car made 192bhp with 169lbs/ft torque. Car feels much better.. by miles!
To the point its booked in for itbs :) .... Cant wait!!
Either way you look at it, its broken and needs to be fixed. If it was me I'd take it to the chap who did it for you, just ask him nicely to take a look at it FOC just explain what's happening, ten minutes of his time wont be putting him out of pocket, if its related to his work then that's down...

Fair amount of cash spent in here then! Does look nice remember seeing it when my car had an engine build at btm. If you have now got the phase 1 head im thinking of from fred im glad to see it went to good use :)
Yeh I think I may of saw it :) saw a red trophy down there that had a few issue with certain itbs, was shocked to here the story tbh!!!!
I should of taken pictures of the comparison, think it would of helped alot of people out who are unsure which cams to go for!
Was yours at Freds place or down at Matts? I think the cams are pretty good, got alot of mid range torque over standard, I compared my RR graph to Daves from his 182 before he sold it and there is a nice chunk of torque in the mid range that the 421's seem to make over the 428's. It pulls alot...
Small update:
Developed a miss fire the other day, anything above 4k RPM on light throttle and the car would occasionally try and chuck me out of my seat!
Started with the obvious, sourced some NGK Iridium plugs, new coil pack and new plug leads........ Nope problem still there!
Next step...
After putting up with my old mk1 1.2 8v for two years it was time for a change! After several hours searching around on tinternet this was what I found...
