Thanks M8! I kept looking at it on different days to see if i could see it. I often look in cupboards and not see what im after even though its right in front of my nose. I though I might be doing something of the same order.
Ok... this is a bit stupid. I cant for the life of me find the break fluid filler! The manual shows it between the power steering filler and the water. Its a mk2 172. Where did they hide it?
I had to do that tonight!
Tanking it down the St. Albans road towards Harpenden, had overtaken some stuff and was just coming in to the area with lights down it. Doing significantly over the ton i went passed a volvo estate police car (poss T-5) heading in the opposite direction.
It jammed...

As some of you may know... i had a worrying sound comming from the engine... renault watford decided it was the heat shield and has taken 2 weeks to replace the clips. I picked it up tonight... all sounded fine until the engine was warm... same problem as before! Service dept. has gone home...

Check if the abs works by finding somewhere quite, getting to about 30 and standing in the breaks. Youll feel it if its there. Maybe worth checking the fuses.
About 135-140 in the clio (indicated). Been quite a bit faster on the bike though (2001 Yamaha R1). Did an indicated 175.. only 35 mph faster but it feels sh1t loads quicker.

They really are desperate. Go for the 1.6. Ive just finished reconditioning the enigine of an old 1.3 Austin Maestro. Now its run in, it out accellerates the Megane! Not good...
After five days at Renault my 172 is comming home. Wey-Hey! After the AA and Renault telling me all sorts of things they now reckon its the heat shield and they need to replace two clips. 5 days in a seriously under powered Meganne 1.4 because of two clips!

Its done 16k. Had its 12k service on the dot. Also gets an oil change every 6 thou. I think the belt that runs all the auxillary stuff has to be very tight with the variable valve timing and all, so I guess once some bearings start to go, they go big time.

Ah, had mine for 4 weeks and already the bearings on one of the tensioners are stuffed. It sounds like a helicopter... have a listen.

Renault came out to pick-up my poorly 172 this morning. On the back of the low-loader they had my replacement car for the time being. A Meganne.
Heres the thing: I like the shape, but theyve given me a 1.4 and i suspect it weighs over a ton and a half :( I think I can run faster than that...
