    Odyysey battery install

Thanks, the only thread I could find didn't have under bonnet pics sadly. I'm hillclimbing this weekend so won't have chance to take a look, will take the battery out after that & see if it makes sense to me. I take it removing the battery won't cause any issues on these?

    Odyysey battery install

Wonder if that would satisfy the scrutineers at a hillclimb, that brace isn't very substantial is it?

    Odyysey battery install

Thanks Christopher, don't suppose anybody has any pics of installs to give me an idea do they?

    Odyysey battery install

Has anybody installed a PC680 or similar battery in the original battery location? My car has the kids scrambling in & out & dogs in the boot so don't want to re-locate it, just wondered if it's easy enough to fit with a cage or something in the original position? Apart from the weight saving...

    172 Exhaust Hanger

That explains why only 1 of them caused a problem, the bolts were very bloody tight so easy to believe it snapped off loosening it. Guess I'll have to bite the bullet & pay my local garage man to sort it for me, probably a doddle when it's up on a ramp.

    172 Exhaust Hanger

Probably been asked before, I looked back a few pages but couldn't see anything. Went to change my rear exhaust hanger last night, doing it in my agarage with only caravan levellers to get it off the ground 6-8"! The 2 bolts at the back came loose Ok, the front one appears to have a nut on the...

Recommendations for 172 Cup cambelt change

Well I had my 1st hillclimb of the season @ Wiscombe yesterday, can't really compare performance as the weather was very wet! Car did feel slightly punchier though, took me to 2nd in class behind a very quick 205 so I'm very happy! Had the option of using 3rd through the Esses, be interesting to...

    Headlight bulbs

Guys, what are the bulbs like to change on a 172 Cup? My NSF dipped beam has gone so need to replace, can get Ring Ultimate Xenon or whatever they're called cheap off a mate so going with those, probably do both dip & main beam while I'm at it but want to know how easy/hard a job it is?

Recommendations for 172 Cup cambelt change

Many thanks to all that recommended Dan, had the car back almost a week now & very happy so far, as everybody said, worth the 110ml round trip & Dan even dropped the car back as he was attending a meet locally :) Would be happy to recommend SJM based on my experience, my car was booked in for...

    205 50 15 on 172 Cup?

Looks like my OZ F1's are ET 43 - should they be Ok? Don't want to shell out getting them fitted to find they won't be!

    205 50 15 on 172 Cup?

Well I've agreed the deal now so no going back lol! I guess if they did rub I could use spacers?

    205 50 15 on 172 Cup?

Cheers guys, figured they'd be OK & I seem to recall Dan Trotman used to run them when he had his Cup :)

    205 50 15 on 172 Cup?

Anybody used Toyo R888 205 50 15 on a 172 Cup? Currently 195 50 15, just worried they will rub or foul the arches? Running OZ F1 rims & Eibach springs so slightly lower than standard. Any experiences appreciated before I shell out on new tyres.

Recommendations for 172 Cup cambelt change

Thanks Dan, despite the car being hillclimbed it is still my daily! I'm assuming all of your prices are inclusive, no nasty VAT to add?

Recommendations for 172 Cup cambelt change

Do you supply the cams Dan? What cams would you recommend, catcams 438's? They seem to be about £595 + £250 mapping + £335 + £175 +++!

Recommendations for 172 Cup cambelt change

It is road legal, runs in standard production car class in hillclimbs. What sort of cost would be involved in cams & remap along with aforementioned belts, dephaser & rocker cover gasket?

Recommendations for 172 Cup cambelt change

Thanks Dan, going down the cams route sounds expensive? From what I've read it would require a remap too adding further expense + is there actually anybody in the SW to remap it? As it's used for hillclimbing more power is always an enticing option though...

Recommendations for 172 Cup cambelt change

Thanks Dan, do you open Saturdays? Does it need dephaser normally? Car needs an oil & filter change anyway, is it worth changing water pump at the same time? Also needs brake fluid change & NSF steering rack gaiter. Also needs a rocker cover gasket I think, weeping slightly & getting oil into...

Recommendations for 172 Cup cambelt change

Sadly that's about 55mls each way, can't really spare the 2hrs or justify driving 110mls for a Clio! Thanks for the reply though.

Recommendations for 172 Cup cambelt change

Hi Sadly my 172 Cup is due a cambelt change, can anybody recommend a decent specialist in East/Mid Devon? I understand that Carlton Garage in Exmouth have had some changes & their Renault man has moved on? Don't want to use a MD if I can help it.

    Odyssey battery

Hi guys, just acquired an Odyssey PC680 battery & was wondering the best method of fitting this in a 172 Cup? I hillclimb the car so it has to pass MSA scrutineering or I'd probably just bodge something up.

Ways of making the 172/182 lighter

I'm in the same situation, want to strip some weight from my 172 Cup for hillclimbing but due to Regs it has to retain most of the interior. Planning to swap the battery for a Gel type & replace the seats when funds allow - good to read above that this could save 20-25kg alone! A fellow...

    Diff advice required please!

Quick update, having spoken to the garage again the £1300 was a worst case scenario, they have now said they expect it to be £900-1000 inc a new clutch which sounds far more reasonable. Just trying to get the Yanoo shifter sorted & I'll give them the go ahead.

    Diff advice required please!

Anybody know how I can get hold of a Yanoo(?) shifter upgrade pretty quickly? Guessing it would be worth doing while the 'box is out? Not interested in the quickshift, just the std upgraded one.

    Diff advice required please!

Is that the 182 one that won't work properly on my 172 Cup? Plus, I have been told that the Quaife ATB diff is not suitable for hillclimbing? Thanks for all the help guys :)
