I'm happy with the wheels, colour and steering wheel/small dents.
My only concern was the potential cambelt issue - could I take it to a local garage and get it inspected for a 2nd opinion for not too much or is it too much work to do a full inspection for a peace of mind?
Cheers
Is there not one other person on this forum that thinks this car might be worth £1500?
Here is the sale link http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/1946377.htm
The guy appears genuine, I mean.. if he wanted to flog a shed I doubt he would be putting this much effort into justifying the reason for sale.. which of course is making my decision more difficult.
We have exchanged at least 20 emails often being longer than that post relating to info about...
ok thanks guys for the info, ive offerd him £1300 max but he wont take it.
I should be more sensible, I dont have a car at all at the moment and want something half decent - there is a 206 gti for sale in my area with proof of recent cambelt change, 82k miles some bodywork dents going for £800...

I replied to him my concens and he offerd to get the jack and tools out when I get there and will remove the cover and show me it - is this enough?
I'd have to travel 100's of miles to any of these, I live on the south coast... not having a car at the moment I cant get that far you see.

How much does a cam belt change cost and why would someone put it up for sale knowing it would make the buyer a very pissed off man who knows where you live?
I guess I could pay for an inspection...
He says he can prove it by removing the cover and looking at the belt itself as it still has the writing on it, also he's agreed to put in writing that if anything major goes wrong with the car in the first 6 months he will go halves on cost.
Do I still need to be concerned?
Hey guys,
I'm hoping you can help.
I'm going to look at a 2001 172 PH1 tommorow and would like to know if this sounds 100% legit to you. It's only up for £1800 so I want to be sure i'm not buying a minger.
To cut a long story short, i've been exchanging emails between this guy for around a...
