Misfire - Ghost in the machine

A wet test? Put a bit of oil at the bottom where the plug or tester screws in? If it has to come off thats fine, ill get to clear the no doubt massive amount of deposits lining the head.

Misfire - Ghost in the machine

Ok finally got myself a compression tester. Chambers 1,2 and 4 are firing normal at 12 BAR and slightly above. Chamber number 3 though is only running at 10? Problematic difference?

Misfire - Ghost in the machine

Yeh, barely holds the revs, when you take your foot off, it just dies once the revs go down. Struggles to stay alive

Misfire - Ghost in the machine

Ever since i renewed my spark plugs (NGK) a while back, my engines had an everlong misfire in chambers 1 and 3. Its worth noting that before i changed the plugs, the engine misfired now and then. I have tried several obvious fixes so far: Swapped plugs back Renewed coil packs Got Injectors 1...

Complete loss of power! (battery etc.)

One of the biggest problems i am now facing with my Clio is its complete loss of power. The relatively brand new battery seems to be dead and even once charged with a power pack, the car doesnt turn over and looses all charge within seconds. Iv read many a people have this kind of problem and...

    Removing alternator - Mk2 Ph1

Incase anyone else has this problem ill just finish this thread with the solution. Iv managed to get the alternator back on, bolted up and the belt tensed up properly. The main problem i had was that the bolt that the tensioner is held on with was rusted in its holding cavity so it didnt slide...

    Central locking stopped responding

Still to get a replacement but the sensor is located in front of the interior light on the roof right above the centre console. To take it out you have to pop out the light (which can be a bother getting back in) and pop off the mount that conceales the cluster of wires. Both are attached with...

    Removing alternator - Mk2 Ph1

update - Tried my best to slacken belt by loosening up tensioner but it just wasnt moving so i managed to slip the belt off around it anyway. Gona be a problem when i put it all back on so if anyone knows how to slacken the belt to get the alternator off and on, please let me know!

    Central locking stopped responding

Finally after looking into it more i believe that the central locking fob isnt working becasue the damn sunroof leak has short circuited the IR sensor! Seems to be another common problem and frankly, logical. A new sensor can cost quite a bit, probably £50 > However, since the sensor doesn't...

    new suede roof lining

Looks sweet, better if it matched though obviously. My Clios had the usual sunroof leak so iv taken the headlining off to do a proper job of it. Taking it off is a little tough cause of the compound used to adhese it to the roof, which is obviously needed so that that the lining stays flush...

    Removing alternator - Mk2 Ph1

Im currently trying to remove the alternator from my 99' mk2 ph1 Clio and so far iv cant seem to slacken the timing belt. The mounting nuts and pulley bolt are all loose but im missing something. Id have a look at the tensioner but cant seem to find the right socket for it. Anyone got any ideas...

Do NGK plugs agree with Clios?

If it where a compression issue, what would the fix be, remap or rebuild etc? (possible usual fault in clios) Could it still be the injectors with these symptoms also?

Do NGK plugs agree with Clios?

After checking out the problem again, all the plugs are working, and the leads are too. But chamber no.4 seems to be the one misfiring, doesnt matter if its plugged in and the plugs always covered in oil. The plug and lead are good though, coil packs are new too. So chamber 4 has a problem. Iv...

Do NGK plugs agree with Clios?

Just put brand new coil packs in and theyve barely changed the issue atall, pissed! The engines still struggling to keep power and its chugging all over the place, tail pipes showing bursts of breathing instead of a steady flow too. Would a faulty lambda sensor make it run this way? Heres a...

    Mk2 Ph1 - Coil packs

My engines been running quite sluggish and barely keeping power, changed the plugs and it only got worse. So i figure the Coil Packs are worn out and need replacing since this is a common problem and they dont look like theyve been changed lately, one has just been bosched in too! I can't find...

    Central locking stopped responding

Yes, like i said, i only renewed the fob casing, the chip inside was swapped over, so its the original chip. The key flashes when i press the button too so the button is still well fixed in. What kind of re-synch are you talking about?

    Central locking stopped responding

Yeh I put new batteries in when I swapped over, there's a strong signal, the cars just not responding. I only got one key aswell so that's all I can try :/

Do NGK plugs agree with Clios?

Supposedly there Bosch plugs, can't remember the code though. Only found this out after i bought the NGKs' though. Yeh it could be, seems to be a recurring solution that the coilpack is knackered, the one on my engine is a bit dodgy, seems like its been replaced with a slightly different...

Do NGK plugs agree with Clios?

I have always used NGK plugs for my cars as there undoubtedly the best commercial plug you can get. However i just bought NGKs' for my 99' 1.6 Clio as the old ones were mismatched and just boggin! The car was also misfiring now and then. After replacing them with the NGKs' though, the car began...

    Central locking stopped responding

This fault has severely pi**ed me off to the max! With my '99' Clio hatchback 1.6 Si' that i recently got as a project, the central locking worked now and then (the casing was bust and didnt always connect inside) so i bought a new fob and swapped over the chips. When i press the button...

Bump! Hey did you manage to get a solution in the end? Iv got a big problem with mine too and its suddenly stopped locking the car altogether, i get the fob light flashing but thats it! Don't know if pressing it a million times has un coded the key or not :s Also, i just bought a new keyfob...
