I am after several parts for my 172. Air filter, fuel filter and some new hoses to name but a few. Can anyone recommend a place, preferably close to Durham City that stocks such things? I'm sure I could get what I need online, however I would rather see them in person, prior to purchase.
Any...
They are blistering a little. The paint has also come away in some areas to reveal the bare plastic underneath. I'm tempted to remove all other badges and have them resprayed a new colour, together with the wing mirrors. Flame red and what...? Is the question though. Once i've decided on a...
The bullets on both the drivers side and passenger side doors of my car could do with restoring. Can anyone recommend a good way to get them looking new(ish..) again?
Cheers.

Through no fault of my own, my air filter has been damaged...I need to get a new one as soon as possible.
Can anyone in the Durham area recommend a suitable panel filter and a place that sells them?
Cheers:)

Just on my way back from work, when I spotted a blue 172 (presumably a cup). I was following it all the way down to the Redland / Cornforth roundabout on my usual route home. Note to driver - I was so tempted to put my foot down and try to keep up;) Was it anyone on here?

Can anyone recommend a decent alloy refurb place in the County Durham area? Also, any idea of how much it would cost to refurb 4 standard 172 alloys, with moderate curb damage?
Cheers

Someone would have to pay me 4.7k to drive around in a car like that. It looks like its been raped by a gang of angry chavs.
Just got a call from the garage. Apparantly the sound is coming from the alternator belt. £260 which includes fitting at the local Renault dealer. However...They also said that if I can live with the sound, just leave it as is. Which, given the price they quoted me, I probably will:)
Cheers.

Hey. I'm currently on with doing some work to my Clio 172 and would benefit from information about where my car was last serviced.
Unfortunatly...the stamp in the service booklet is smudged and the address is unreadable. I'm considering contacting the previous owner in order to request this...
I've got it booked in for a check in the morn. I mentioned the symptoms over the phone and they said it might be the cam belt tensioner. If it turns out to be the aux belt though, any ideas how much (avg) it would cost to replace it?
Cheers:)
I recently noticed a slight chirping sound coming from the mid left corner of the engine as looking at it from the front. It only seems to happen from a cold start and fades completely once the engine has warmed. Any ideas what it might be?
Cheers:)
Having to use an alternate account as Tek81 seems to have gone loco...
Cheers for the welcome all:) The car is flame red. Not "lipstick pink" as my girlfriend seems to think...
Since posting, I have seen quite a few other 172's in the Durham area. I'm going to make an effort to wave to all...
Yeah, I was starting to wonder;) Cheers for all the replies, guys. Will get some pictures of my car up in the intro section, soon as I get time.:)

Forum ate my post, so 2nd attempt - Looking like I will leave it off. Just one last question. A friend mentioned that the intake pipe might* be required in order for the engine to sense the amount of air it is receiving. Is this true?
Jim:)
Are there any negative effects that would come from leaving it off? I'm not sure if all that warm air being sucked in through the hole is doing the engine any good. If* I can track one down, I will put it back in place. I have already contacted several breakers yards and garages, but to no...
Hey, I recently bought a 02 Clio 172. Everything is good with the car (touch wood), however it is missing the air intake pipe that runs between the bottom right of the filter box, and the lower right corner of the bumber (as you are looking at the car from the front).
My knowledge of mechanics...
