I’ve got a pair of synchros for the TL4 in stock. They were brass in the 197, then redesigned to be steel for the 200. Renault then realised that the steel ones were just as s**t, so went back to brass.
This is the reason why they’ve been fitted into a test gearbox mate. They will be inspected regularly so I can measure/monitor any wear going on.
If they don’t work, I’m personally not prepared to try and introduce bronze bushings into the design as it will only weaken the fork. Jc5 forks don’t...
It’s a strip down job to do the bushes and seal properly. End of. No other way.
The seal they’ve fitted needs to be all the way in the box as well. I’d imagine it’s standing proud and not letting the box select reverse. Reverse gear is selected by pushing the lever all the way into the box and...
Good question! The original forks for 1st/2nd and 3rd/4th are made from sintered bronze. The fork for 5th is made from cast aluminium and has nylon fingers on the end of where it sits in the selector hub - similar to the setup on the fork for 1st/2nd.
With it being the fork under the least...
That could be a multitude of things mate ranging from the power steering pump, the alternator or the water pump. Personally I don’t think it’s the water pump as they make more of a metallic noise.
Check your power steering fluid level and see if it looks burnt.
After that, you need to drop...
Cliosport.net exclusive here folks. Billet forks are here with me and I’ve installed them in a test gearbox to make sure they’re ok.
The fit is like a glove, and the quality is bang on. And it’s safe to say, they look the part as well!
Next step is to put them in the development gearbox and...
As most of you will all know, I’ve probably stripped and rebuilt more jc5 boxes than I’ve had wanks (lots of!).
So thanks to Renault stopping making the selector forks for 1st/2nd gear and 3rd/4th becoming increasingly harder to get hold of, it pretty much spells the end of the line for jc5...
Fair play for giving it a go mate at least. A lot of the time the generic code readers can lead you up the garden path tbh.
You will never beat product knowledge and the correct diagnostic software specific to the product either. And even then, it’s the product knowledge that gets you out the...
I know that corner very well mate. I’ve had an off in pretty much the exact same spot, only difference being I was on 2 wheels and around 10/15mph faster when I entered the arena.
And yes, it f**king hurt. 😂😂
They’ll need prep either way mate, so if they’re already in 2k lacquer, in theory they should take less prep. Depends how pinholed the finish is to start with.
