I had mine done at Ren7oaks - they were reasonably priced, friendly and got the job done quite quickly. Also they are right next to a station so I jumped on the train and spent the day in London.
Thanks for the replies.
Blargh - both of those jobs are expensive especially having had the timing belt done a few months ago.
Would you bother getting it sorted or just keep an eye on it - the moment it starts dripping on the drive it's game over but for now its definitely not since the car...
Hi,
After a couple of 300-500 mile journeys my oil lindicator said the oil was low. I checked it on the dipstick and it wasn't on the low marker but not too far off either so I gave it a top up of about 500ml to see how that went.
The trip computer oil indicator now really varies it's reading...
Just on the join to the centre pipe. I had it re welded but it may have split again. The whole join is difficult to get right , eventually im going to have it setup differently. In the meantime im going to take it all apart re do the weld get a new clamp and try some high temp silicone as...
I had this and changed my centre exhaust mount which didn't look tired until I compared it to the new part which is improved. Genuine improved part was seven quid. All sits straight now but it still whistles although I've given up trying to fix it now.
Thanks for quick replies - it is interesting that you say the genuine ones look the same as the Ebay ones - are they single bolt on one side clamps?
Maybe the one I have on there is wrong or old - here is a picture.
It's going up on the ramps again tonight just to double check that the weld...
Hi all,
My cat to centre join is blowing again - I have had it resealed and refitted twice and have also replaced all the mounts as well as the mani-cat join so this is really irritating now since all I can hear is a hissing when I should hear the engine!
Has anyone got any experience with an...
Hi,
As some of you may remember I posted a thread on here about repairing my Mani-CAT join and CAT-Centre join to stop the exhaust blowing which was noticeable through a whistling past 3k rpm.
Whilst doing this work we discovered a hairline crack in the cat/centre join which was welded up...
Thanks again all,
For anyone who's interested garage said "BOTH bearings were completely f**cked". I only thought one was buzzing and didint even think it was THAT bad.
Ok Hopefully no wheels falling off now - booked in for Saturday 9am quoted 45mins labour at £50p/h. Garage was recommended by a CS user and they let me source the parts. (Genuine Renault £110 delivered tomorrow AM with pads)
I really thought I would get quoted for 2hours so pleased with that...
Thanks for the advice all, im going to get some quotes for fitting today! I will sort it at the weekend either myself or at a garage. is it likely the disc could be difficult to get off since the bearing has had it?
Hi
Ive got a longish journey coming up but my rear whewl bearing is buzzing. I know iam better off replqcong discs but my mate isnt around to help me fit them which means an expensive trip to the garage.
I havent got decent tools so that makes it hard to do it myself really.
How much...
Bumping this incase anyone wanted to know the results. Contact cleaner and solvent cleaner work. Paint thinner worked with very little elbow grease but definitely wear a breather. I didn't have one to hand and only lasted a few minutes before getting dizzy. The best advice is don't rip them off...
Not really on topic but...
I saw an Inferno at Tesco Burgess Hill filling up with fuel, a few days ago.
The next day I saw a LY heading from Ansty to B Hill - rare colours around these parts!
Thanks for all the responses - I will give some of these a go and let you know the results.
With all of these substances - my neighbours might think I have a problem.....
Hi,
The rear side windows on my 182 have had vinyl tint on them which cracked and has now been removed. however there is some major residue left behind. normally wd40 works fine for removing sticker residue but this stuff is stubborn!
Any tips on the best methods and products?
Should i...
Hi,
I've had my clio (182 FF) a while now, and since Ive had it people comment how I tend to drive in the middle of the road - ive noticed it too.
At first I was convinced it was due to me being worried about damaging the alloys but now I seem to fight the car to keep it to the left especially...
Thanks for the replies,
I still havent decided whether to take the plunge and go for it, there are some standard silencers for sale on ebay for around the £350 mark but this doesnt include centre section although mine looks fine.
What Iam going to do whilst I wait for it to fall off is keep my...
Thanks Dan,
Still undecided whether to go standard or SS, both the same price for parts , not sure how it would affect resale either. I will keep searching for a vid might even email ktec and see if they CAn send me one.
Cheers
Hi,
As you may have seen I have repaired most of my standard exhaust system but found a hole in my silencer. I like the standard system sound and don;t want anything at all boy racer like (I get enough comments about that already!).
Does anyone have a vid of the Janspeed Sports stainless...
Update:
Fitted the part today, thanks to the guide it took virtually no time at all. On inspection there was a crack under the cat-centre join which was also blowing. Welded that up and now the car sounds so much better. NO WHISTLE!
However now the silencer is blowing - need a new silencer...
Hi guys,
Now I am a fully fledged member - I can view the guide and have decided to give this ago myself as my mate is lending me his garage for the afternoon on Saturday. If anyone has any last minute tips to ensure that the join works correctly I would appreciate it.
Also I wanted to replace...
Thanks for all the replies. IM going to get the gasket replaced this month and I'll let you know what happens as it might help some of you guys work out what the whistle is. For the record since the garage fiddled with it it has become more of a wooshing almost exactly over 3000rpm.
