this is the reason why I never go shopping in the 172 or any good car I have owned.
We have always had a old banger for things such as this, currently a citroen AX.
I am so carfull in car parks and it really annoys me when i see people banging doors into other peoples cars. Ive had a go...
the servicing for my dci at 2 years was the same as the 16v 1.2.
but like ben H says it is down to how much you can get the car for.
I got offered a good price on mine from a mate so I sold it after 3 years. Looking for a bigger diesel powered car at the moment!
Sold my dci 65 a few months back.
it averaged 60 mpg on the motorway at high speed and around town it averaged at least 50mpg. it was fantastic on fuel.
The low down torque also means you dont have to thrash it like small petrol engines. However if you do want to drive in a hurry it...
the driving position in my mark 1 172 is better than the dci mark 2 I have just sold. It is all down to the seat design. the latest clio has a very high driving position.
A red Nissan Primera Mk 2 2.0i 16v LX 1996, bought in 1999. 40k and did 20k in the year I had. Bought off a family member for 4.5k. Insurance was £1400.
Very reliable, just needed pads and new tyres and 1 service in the very abusive 1 year. Sold it to a bloke I played footy with and it is now...
In my dci 65 on a normal driving itr averaged around 60mpg and at 70 mph it was high 60s but at higher speed on the motorway you were talking high 50s, low 60s mpg.
raging the car you still got high 40s mpg
Just bought a citreon AX 1.1i 11 years old and got 11k on it. 1 old owner and been garaged and serviced. It looks brand new.
drives like a bus and dont trust the central locking as it sounds old if you know what i mean
the 172 has just gone over 20k and when we bought it last april it...
At the start of this week we had a dci clio and a 172. Just sold the dci due to wanting a bigger diesel powered car.
For the meantime we have just bought a citreon AX with only 11k on it. It is absolutly mint and we have dropped on very well. 1 old owner and been garaged. it looks brand new...
Pretty much what everyone else says, if its a bodyshop car it will be whatever they have knocking about (or not) as the case may be. The best bet is a hire car as they can upgrade your car class but not down grade. say if the bodyshop will pay for a clio size you might end up with anything upto...
I admit the cup FEELS more hard core.
the power delivery on a Mark 1 is more aggressive and further up the rev range than the phase 2s. But ive had mine remapped and it is a more progressive shove in the back now!:)
And yes.... the Mark 1 has the best seats! lol ;)
I think the gearing is better in the mark 1, less revs at motorway speed and higher gearing for over taking.
the cup no doubt handles better but when i was looking for either a 172 mark1, mark 2 or cup last year, price was a factor. I got a 172 mark 1 for less than 7k with 14k miles on it and...
i agree. I play 5 a side footy with a guy who owns a garage. As soon as my cars are out of warrenty I get him to do the work with either renault parts or manufacturers he says is better.
I also watch him work/help out which for one is enjoyable and I also know he does what he says he is going...
As regards to insurance claims with 3rd parties, It doesnt have to be an insurance companies client that logs a claim, you can log it yourself especially if you were not to blame.
So inform your own insurance company and then get a claim logged with his if you have his insurance details.
The...
I think the dci is a great little diesel engine but the 100 is overpriced at the mo. It is getting into the VRS fabia teritory for price which is a more competant high powered diesel
Similar spec and price I paid for mine. I have never looked back. I love the underrated look of the Mark 1, people dont really know what it is until they cant get past you.
The build is crap though. I am trying to sort out the drivers door window, if it is not fully down it rattles and it...
Did you get your dinner though?
He will do that to a true nutter one day and be kicked in.
I got attacked the other week getting off the train by a nutter in front of his kids. He was in his 40s and a small bloke. Im 23 and 17 stone and he hit me in the back of the head when I was walking...
for the past 25 years my paretns have only bought japanese or german cars. last year they had to get a mobility car for the first time, so there choice was limited as it is not their car. anyway thye bought a renault kangoo. they like the car but it keeps getting problems such as leaking, not...
its the steady 70mph which i might not manage. plus once in the highlands it will be alot of stop starting. cant wait. the 172/182 seem to be a good blend of perfomance and economy.
my 172 will be fully ladened down with camping equipment and 3 blokes so i cant imagine getting better than 30mpg through the highlands of scotland where i know my boot will be flat down most of the time!
cheers.... not got a problem taking the dci but the roads up there in scotland call for the 172. sod fuel economy anyway, its a holiday.
I think I will take it easy until i get on the B roads and then scare the gobby mate to death .... hes a 1.2 8v punto driver so he wont expect this...
Im going on a camping holiday to the scotish highlands in a few weeks.
One of my mates wants me to take the dci clio but i want to take the 172 instead. His main argument is mpg. so my question iswhat will the 172 do on the motorway? i know the dci is good as ive driven it down to cornwall and...
