No-one should be surprised at this. Yes its crap to lose so much on a car in such a short period, but you did buy a Renault. It may be the best hot hatch about but this is why when it comes to re-sale your CTR or VW GTI buyer is laughing. I know thats not why people buy 182s but its not shocking...
Cant believe all your mpgs! Most of my driving is town / suburban with quick blasts round the m25 and I honestly never see above 25mpg. I always use either optimax or super unleaded and dont drive to madly. Why is this?
Do you never experience when driving fast approaching a bend or some other place where you need a lower gear, the jerk you get when going from 3rd or 4th say at 2500 rpm to 2nd or 3rd at say 4500rpm? This is what blipping the throttle gets rid of as it matches the revs for each gear therefore...
Interesting that. I remember Phil Bennett writing that the 182 sat rallycar flat round bends with the cup pack or something like that and I must say that in the noncup pack you do do get a bit of roll when pushing round corners. Still sticks like glue though. I agree they look better too...
^^^^^^^Good point. For a sporty car I think its pretty economical. I have had from 25-40mpg so far. I think thats good when you compare it to any similar performing car - Mini Cooper S, BMW 325 etc. The fuel tank is small compared to a larger car so Iguess it seems like its drinking a lot of fuel!
I agree wih all youve said, except for heavy steering, which I think is weighted just right. Ive had mine a week and just gone through 1,000 miles. Coming from a diesel laguna I cant get over how quick it is, especially over the magic 5,000 revs. Its a joy to drive such a communicative car and...
With regard to the looks, Beckenham Renault hve a cup blue one which looks pretty good but not as purposeful as the focus. I always think the Megane looks a bit soft.
Accelaration-wise the megane seems to have all its rivals beaten. Apparently the in-gear times beat the alfa 147gta. It just sounds a bit dissapointing through the bends and when thrashing it the traction control keeps cutting in. I have a choice between this or a LCR in January but Im hoping...
28th June for me. No Cup options either but thats cos its company and has to be standard see. Im sure itll still drive pretty good. cannot wait! Ive been reading everyone elses new 182 posts with jealous interest.
Well thanks for all the help everyone. Dont think my company allow any mods to standard cars, other than c/c on the cup, so Turini alloys for the 172 could be a problem. All points taken on board though. By the sound of it I dont think itll take long to tot up the 60k replacement time and...
Tax is actually about the same as the diesel that Im running as a company car now. Cos the cars are both about £5,000 cheaper and its done as % of value of car it works out nearly exactly the same and I dont pay for petrol. Does anyone know whether the performance difference is that noticeable...
God, food for thought. Thanks for all that. I had pretty much decided to go with the cup and c/control. Ive always wanted a hardcore hot hatch and I love the whole look of the cup. however the stereos a bit nicer and the seats look smart with the leather trim on the 172. this is getting more...
Finally got some fun cars on our car list at work. Cant decide between a cup or 172. What worries me is I drive about 100 miles a day all year round the lanes and mways of kent. Is the cup a comfy car to drive over distances? i know thats not what its about but ive tested the 172 and love it...
