I couldn't afford a type R (one of the other hot hatches I was tempted by)and wasn't sure if I wanted another E36 just yet. I needed to get this mini fascination out of my system and now I just want to improve it and keep it.
I also wanted a car to take on track and no Ford stacked up to it for...
I had DS2500 brake pads, Brembo HC discs, Braided brake lines, ATE super blue fluid, for my track day and I gave them a fair workout, perfect for me and my capability. G172 provided them at a great cost and super fast service. Get it done, you will be chuffed when they are all on
I looked at all of them and bought a cup as I loved the colour, it was down to this or a black one.
I didn't want the air con or the abs as it was just something else to break and also slighter cheaper to maintain (cambelt) and I hope more reliable.
Plus yes the wheels sold me to it and I was...
R516vt........I did the outers but the inners pissed me off soo much I wanted to torch the car..... I couldn't get the brackets back on so drove it to my mates garage and got him to bail me out
Cheers matey,
This seems like a pretty mature community much like 1 or 2 other forums I am on...
I have Yokohama S drive because they are cheap. In the wet they do a job - you should drive to the conditions anyway and in the dry they are quite good. Don't make too much noise but after a trackday and 400 miles they are a bit fecked..
For £50 quid a corner I can't see you getting much better...
The car behaved itself and was an awesome laugh.
Hopefully will manage a few upgrades after xmas before another track day.
i'll add a few more photos when I find them....
The clio and my mates Golf 8v
Bit of an update so far on this
The brakes are all on and fitted courtesy of my friend at his garage. They came next day from George......he will definitely be getting all my future orders without doubt and friends too.
I will be doing a coolant flush, gearbox oil change and the seal in the...
How did you find the RSRs?
I'm at Brands in my cup next friday and don't know whether to go yokohama s drive, RSR at 205 or Michelin PS3. Mine does get used on the road and i want it working in the wet. How have they lasted?
32 mpg for the last 3 weeks. started of at 41 on the first day to work(for a week) then it dropped to 33 as traffic was pretty pants.
After £80 in 5 days I was glad to get back on the train and only use it to get to rugby.
My golf GT TDI always got 47-56mpg and was about 60 a week but that...
Things have been a bit slow of late, but a few updates now as I get ready for the trackday.....
Tonight I did the oil change with Renault oil the elf stuff and new spark plugs.
A fortnite ago it received new Renault rear discs, pads and bearings
Last weekend, the dogbone mount, engine...
I had a quick search but can't find anything obvious.
Can bucket seats be fitted that can be on sliders. I am the best part of a foot taller than my girlfriend and we share the car. Would be nice if I could find a solution to the standard cup seats.
Cheers for any assistance
scotty
Mine seems pretty good on fuel, certainly better than my leon cupra was. Keep having to tell myself it doesn't matter what the Golf does(tdi 130) this is more fun
Sump gasket and Powerflex bushes and top gearbox mount have arrived.
Just ordered dog bone Powerflex and ARPs and looks like I'm getting a ktec stealth system Friday.
Things are moving gradually :-)
I had my first proper look underneath it yesterday morning.
Sump has an oil leak, rocker cover is leaking as the manifold has a bit of oil on it and all the arb bushes are nackered which may explain how the car steers a little bit everywhere when going straight.
It is going in next Saturday for...
Hi, just had a look under the car for the first time and the car seems to be dual split pipework. It's got two large boxes. Is this normal? And is it pretty restrictive?
I was either thinking of a decat as its cheap or the silencer from ktec which at least looks like a cat. Does a warning light...
Hello,
Just became a paid up member last week as I knew I was definitely getting a clio
I picked this up Sunday evening from a chap near the Welsh/Midland border.
I got it for a fairly reasonable price after a near 400 mile round trip.
First impression was turn in was insane compared to my...
Hi, joined up a while ago when I was previously looked at a 1*2. I couldn't have one as a daily before but work circumstances have changed and I stopped my search for one this evening.
I'll put up a thread as it needs a bit of work but should be a good fun mini project, it's an ex forum member...
Went to look at a black one locally.
General opinions:
Thumbgrips made it difficult to hold steering wheel( got quite large hands unfortunately)
Steering was nice and heavy but well assisted for parking
Brakes had surface rust from being standing so can't comment
Suspension was hard on country...
Hi there, just thought I'd say hello.
I've never really been a french fan, 100% Ford and bmw but my eyes have opened somewhat and I love the looks and plenty of reviews for the 172/182.
At uni a mate had a 1.2-1999 and it was a sack of poo. It didn't help my ideas of french cars being tat...
