Does anyone know the values for H&R? The normal lowering spring set for the 172/182.
I can't believe they don't publish this data, it's not particularly hard to measure and Eibach provide their numbers.
Hopefully someone here knows, numbers only thanks.
Feel like these are shot, back seems to jump sideways when loaded up heavily, and can also feel it moving sideways over small bumps at high speed, like the back of the car is rocking left to right.
Wondering if it's worth upgrading to powerflex, or if I should just replace with stock ones. I...
Has anyone got an answer? Will those fit?
I was just providing as many details of my car as possible, I know there was a steering rack difference at some point, not sure if it affected the tie rods.
Not really.
I've been using them for a few years now and my notes are:
- They grip pretty well cold, and grip amazing with a bit of heat in them
- When they cool down after being heated up, they seem to have noticeably less grip (even vs. cold), i.e. when coming home from a spirited drive and...
No worries, M12 is handy - just wanted a rough idea before I tinkered. Did you manage to stop the front wheels rubbing / have to cut or grind anything out? Any idea what the final degree of + caster ended up being?
Read the original post. He has installed Cup Suspension, ball joints, and Eibach springs. By your / Adam's logic, none of these items are appropriate for road use either, there is no reason you should be exceeding the capacity of stock versions of those items during sensible road driving...
Did it ever occur to you that there may be places and times to drive on public roads that are void of traffic and people? Remote areas, mountain regions late at night, etc.
You're making some very short sighted assumptions and assuming they apply to everyone. I highly doubt anyone is driving...
Incredibly.
This is the Clio "Technical" forum, specifically an area for discussion of suspension. Your posts indicate that you lack an understanding of the finer details of suspension geometry and dynamics (perfectly reasonable), and also lack an appreciation for others discussing it in detail...
You're missing the point - which is that a certain amount of negative camber is beneficial (on a car that gains little to none of it as travel is used) even in typical road use conditions. From factory the rear of the car runs a certain (appropriate) amount, yet the amount at the front is...
Everything I stated in my post still stands as true.
Unfortunately road and track driving are not black and white, if people are doing mountain runs or driving spiritedly on other low-traffic roads that is their business and the OP gave the impression that's the case. Let's be honest, you don't...
The Ph2 172 which the OP owns runs a factory spec of -0.3* camber on the front and -1.5* camber on the rear. It's actually a strange choice by RS to do this, isn't at all beneficial to the car's handling from a performance standpoint, and results in the outside edges of the front tyres seeing...
Is there any easy way to do this without converting to cable throttle? Failing that, would switching to cable throttle be easy enough (Ph1 throttle body and pedal)?
I'd like to be able to turn off the TC (power reduction) while keeping the ESP because I find it works quite well and actually...
These things are common with the Honda boys, just wondering if anyone has managed to order / fit one to a 172/182?
They offer it as a part but it's listed as not in stock, however I'm wondering if anyone has actually put one in.
In terms of quality/durability they sound as good as Quaife (in...
Thanks again Russ,
Do you think the amount of understeer is equal or less than what the stock car had, after you set it up? I'm happy to run the ride height higher
It sounds to me like the B14s would work great with a spring rate change - I've tried to find the stock rates and all I could find...
Thanks, so replacing that fixed the problem?
I believe that 'pack' contains this transistor which is the part that actually fails (from searching on here):
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/180855507205
Can anyone confirm?
Just wondering if this is the result of the resistor pack transistor failure, or is it something else?
I can use all climate control functions, however the fan is always stuck on full when I turn the car on - and even though I change the fan speed settings (and the display changes) the fan...
Thanks Russ, very detailed and honest answer, can I ask how long you've used them for?
They are not for track work so don't need to be super stiff, actually sound like a decent balance to me.
The understeer on tighter bends part is putting me off though, in fairness I think most coilovers seem...
Also - how did they affect the handling vs. stock - particularly in terms of understeer / oversteer balance?
I ask because every coilover manufacturer (including Bilstein) seems to spec a higher ratio of front vs. rear spring rate increase compared to the stock 172 setup. Might be safer, but...
Done a lot of searching here on the topic, and reviews seem to be mixed.
I'm not looking for a track setup, just something noticeably firmer than stock that will still work well on the street and not be ridiculously stiff. From what I can gather, these fit the profile.
However I just read a...
