    Also check your returns the black wire from the battery, there are many connections on the body work which are prone to fail, just work you way back, wiring is crap on clio's and also where the relay box is, pull each fuse out and check for green terminals use WD40 spray to clean up all relay...

    The car was towed to the garage because the oil had gone, I was informed that the head gasket had gone, which was the reason the oil had gone, never heared this Steaming term before, by the way I had no signs that this had happened except a noiser engine.

    Do you know anyone with a diagnostic box, there is a socket behind the cigarette box where you can plug it in, may give you a fault code, If you don't you can pick one up cheap at argos.

    Had some head work done apparently there was evidence of the headgasket failing, but on the report he has said there is also evidence of "steaming" what is steaming I have googled it and all it brings up is a base ball team! can anyone enlighten me on what Steaming is:banghead:

    Another poor Clio owner with starting problems!

    Also I found that you don't need the ECM plugged in to turn over the engine, the starter motor is wired independently to the ECM. The ECM controls the Fuel pump relay and Injection locking relay ect....

    Long story short I've got that starting gremlin problem. No Fuel pump or Spark on key on.
