Really nice looking motor mate!
I have recently bought one myself. I was torn between an Abarth 500 and a Lupo GTi so the same as you but opted for the GTi as I felt it would retain value better and is a little rarer on the roads. The Abarths seem a great car, for tuning as well. If you go for...
Every now and again (not often) the EML comes on which is throwing up the P0420 code - Catalyst system efficency below threshold (bank 1).
I replaced the post lambda sensor last year so its fairly new but then in doing so the boss on the cat crumbled off. I took it to a local exhaust place who...
Think it's the same car I've seen a couple of times now. Looked like 2118's and pretty low.
Car looks good! I was in a RB going the other way near The March Hare.
Bit of an update...
Went to take the sensor out to give it a spray and the cat crumbled when I took it out, I managed to last a week with a temporary fix.
Put a decat in today rather than a cat and it feels flat!!!! Has anyone experienced this with a decat?
I'm back in the world of Clios after buying a RB 182 last week and my first post back is in the faults section, haha.
Can someone help clarify the issue with my error code?
I've read through some threads but can't seem to find a definitive answer. The code reader is showing P0136 which I...
Is this a common occurrence on Clio's when cold? From what I've looked at on old threads it seems like a few people come across this.
I had my gearbox reconditioned and the selector seal sorted by a local Renault specialist about 5 months ago and it was initially stiff to get into first gear...
First posted pic of my Cup!
Owned it since the beginning of December last year and just about got it to a standard that I'm happy with. It wasn't too bad when I bought it but it's just needed major jobs doing before the exterior. Since buying it I've put new mintex discs and pads all around...
It's simple, just watch how u go with the discs, the lad in the guide said he used one disc per side and mine were that bad I just about got it done with what I had.
Cheers, well it not a rotten egg smell so I'll rule that out. I'll have a look around the rocker cover when I get chance and see if I can find the potential cause.
Every time I drive my car over the past 4-5 months I get a burning smell as though it's the exhaust. I have looked into it and seen the 'new exhaust smell' threads but don't think it this as I put my K-Tech stealth on in January, so some time ago.
Is it possible that it can be my catalytic...
I took 4 cans out when I was at halfords yesterday but it looked like it would be hard to match. Black was the quick fix and I don't think I'll be happy until they match along with the bullets. I think I'll have to spend a bit of time finding a near enough colour!
Got my turnini's powder coated yesterday to a 'Tungsten' finish which is between the standard silver and anthracite.
The problem is, they obviously couldn't powdercoat the centre caps with them being plastic. I asked them to see if they could try and sort them for me, saying they would try. I...
Restored my shockingly bad headlights, over the moon with the transformation it makes!
Wheel refurb tomorrow. Any recommendations? Silver, anthracite or tungsten?
A local renault specialist in the north east, quite well regarded and I suppose not many places can refurbish a gearbox which they say the have great knowledge of the cup one. I just wanted to check I wasn't being ripped off that's all.
Thanks for the guide. They did say the parts weren't that costly, it's mainly labour. I did get them to put a new clutch in so thats an extra £100 I suppose.
That's what I would have done but I just got the garage to go ahead with the work because I told them to work to £500-600 which they were until I get a call saying its going to be £935. Is this over the odds for the work do you think? I know its a labour intensive job which will be most of the...
Just wondered what people thought about the cost I've got to pay for my gearbox refurb? Looks like its going to be £935 all in. The work includes, strip the box, repair the internals (three bearings, two selector forks & a 2nd hand 5th gear they had at the garage), new clutch and put back in the...
You can pick up a Skoda Fabia splitter for around £15, that's what I did for my 172 cup and it looks spot on. Simple to fit and you just trim the ends with a sharp blade. Depends on what you're after and how much you want to pay at the end of the day.
As above. I went for the supersport and ended up getting the middle silencer as it was too loud for my liking. Depends on what you're after and how much you drive your car in my opinion. If you use it daily the drone on the supersport might be a bit much.
Heard from the garage this afternoon, they found significant wear on the input shaft bearing and selector forks. Looks like there are three bearings and two selector forks needed which is going to cost £160, the release bearing is included in price. Apparently the clutch showed minimal signs of...
No judder at all really, only difficult to get into 1st gear sometimes, more so when starting from cold. Do you hear a quiet squealing noise on tick over then when you press your clutch it disappears? That is what mine has done since owning the car and am guessing is the clutch release bearing...
Spoke to the garage yesterday and told them to strip the box, I think there were too many issues for me to just ignore sorting it. As for a diagnosis, they couldn't really say until they've had a good look as to what needs doing. I'm hoping to speak to them this morning. They seemed to think the...
As above, check for fluid leaks on your shocks, seems a common fault. Check the springs whilst you're at it also. Both shocks on my 172 cup have gone, as more fluid comes out it will gradually get worse. I got a pair from Renault Wolverhampton on here, £80 a pair delivered!
