I've got RAC homestart, decided I would actually use it on the off chance I got somebody out who didn't want to just load it onto a flat bed as the RAC often do. I was in luck, the chap who came out was a big petrol head who loved French hot hatches. We fixed a bad connection to the alternator...
Brief update on this (and I'll make sure I post a solution if one is found in case it helps others).
On the advice above I swapped the three brown relays including the starter motor relay with my brother's 182 which is conveniently parked right next to mine. Still no start and my relays work...
This is an intermittent fault which has existed for well over a year now.
Most times the car starts fine and runs great, however while driving the battery and stop light will occasionally flicker on for a second or two then go out.
Sometimes when trying to start the car it just won't turn...
Bit of an update:
In the last few months I've put more miles on the Williams than it's seen in the last few years! If I remember correctly from the MOT history it had done nine-hundred and something miles in the last 5 years or so. Over the last few months it's covered more than 1000 miles...
Nobody loosing their s**t. I'm about as far from a precious Trophy owner as you could get. Mine has a million miles on it, is covered in mud and is regularly driven at ten tenths on track days (not as regularly as I'd like). I'm the first person to say there's little difference between a Trophy...
When I spoke to the Police they didn't really want to know because I wasn't the one who found the car. It would be worth you giving them a call and letting them know where it is.
The Police also wouldn't divulge to me if it was/wasn't reported stolen.
It's quite possible that the owner parked...
Have already reported to Leeds Police
There's the off chance the owner is on holiday or stores the car in a lockup rather than at home etc and therefore wouldn't spot it straight away.
HPI doesn't show it as recorded stolen either, might not be but wanted to put the info on here (and also the...
I've had a very quick search to try to make sure I'm not duplicating a thread here but if I am and I've just not spotted it please delete this thread mods.
A photo of a 182 Trophy reg: T800PHY has been circulating, the car is seemingly abandoned in a boarded up industrial area, believed to be...
Time for some warts and all photos!
Starter motor on the Trophy failed last night, which will delay getting the Williams over to Floyd by a week since the Trophy gets used and has to take priority. Once it's back though the Williams will be going over to Floyd so he can have a look at it and...
I'm expecting and planning for rust. There's a few small spots of surface rust on the wings, so far nothing that looks structural and there's no mention of rust on any of the MOT history. Either way I've budgeted for rust purely based on the age of the car so if we find it needs some welding it...
I'm not particularly local, I'm over in Coventry. I'd been doing the long drive down to K-tec until they very helpfully recommended Floyd at RS Four Ashes. He just did the injectors on my Trophy (about to book it in for a new starter too). I expect the Williams will be spending a bit of time...
Really encouraged by the positive responses to this, thanks guys.
Almost didn't post as sometimes enthusiast forums can be very negative and didn't want to upset any Williams aficionados by not doing it "properly". Will keep it updated. :)
I expected it to be in much worse shape for the money it was advertised at too. The chap knew exactly what it was but needed the space as he restores old fast Fords and I suspect he didn't really have the appetite for the little Frenchy!
I understand collectors and speculators, and maybe I'm an idiot (odds are high on that one) but for me the value of using a well sorted car as the engineers intended far outweighs the finacial value of selling it for a huge profit after it's sat gathering dust impotently for years!
Thanks mate, both have been on my to own list seemingly forever. Will never sell the Trophy, hopefully feel the same way about the Williams a few years down the road!
A few years ago I bought one of the highest mileage and cheapest 182 Trophys around. Cosmetically it was great but mechanically it needed some TLC. The project is now complete with a rebuilt engine and gearbox, it makes a very healthy 195bhp at the wheels (thanks to some K-tec go faster bits...
Been troubleshooting this issue. Unfortunately this isn't going to be much help to the majority of people experiencing this issue since the problem seems to be pretty specific to my car/engine spec.
Checked exhauat and intake for leaks, non found. Changed O2 sensor post cat, no difference in...
Many thanks for these replies.
I've got a pretty bog standard code reader, gives me live O2 data, might plug that in and see what readings I'm getting from the pre cat sensor, then borrow the pre cat sensor from my brothers 182 and see if the data is very different in an attempt to eliminate...
The garage got it as hot as possible and did everything they could to try to get it to pass apparently.
Here are the actual MOT emissions test details:
Hope that means more to somebody else than it does me! Appreciate the replies, thanks both.
Aware this is a very old thread, but wondering if you got to the bottom of the high CO2?
Mine has also failed, details in this thread: https://www.cliosport.net/threads/failed-mot-on-co2-lambda-is-marginal.820748/
