Well if its by the sea i would recommend getting a polarize lenses as that will give you a much better blue sky (assuming its a nice day obviously), but a just a UV lense will also be handy. You can get both from Jessops as thats where i got mine. The canon lens hood i saw were indeed not very...

A UV filter or 2 would be a good idea, Depending on your lenses diameter you may need 1 for each lense you plan on using. A lens hood will also be pretty much essential, though i have seen the Canon ones and they are not that good in my opinion, but any good camera shop will be able to help...

You could also try the file format PNG, that *may* give better results. Si

As said above ^^^ There a number of different algorithms that you can use to resize images. In Paintshop Pro i use "smart resize" and in Photoshop i generally use "bicubic", these both seem to give results with images of the size you mentioned. Si

I can recommend the Canon 350D, very good for its price and very easy to learn how to use. http://worldofsi.blogspot.com/ These are some of the shots i have taken with it. Your best bet is to pop into a Jessops (or similar) and have a "feel" of the cameras, as thats also an important factor...

They were taken on a Canon DSLR 350d. I mainly used my 75-300mm lens but didn't seem to get the closeness you have achieved in your shots. Did you use a ladder or something to get "past" the fencing? Si

I keep mine in the garage, not because i live anywhere dodgy (i don't), but because on them winter mornings i don't have to reach for the scraper. Parked it on the road at my old place just down the road and never had any probs. Si
