I'm not sure about the iMac but with MBPs they allow you to swap the HDD and RAM out with no ill effect on the warranty.
The problem you're having sounds like the backlight inverter.
Sorry for raising temptation guys.
Just do it, it's an investment ;)
Coming from the dual core i5 2010 MBP with SSD I can say that's it's identical on "snappiness" but the CPU is a whole league ahead.
Nothing stresses it, XP and W7 VMs run so much better/faster.
Well, it arrived yesterday. THAT SCREEN!
Can't say that I was fussed about much else, the weight didn't bother me and I'm a little miffed at the price of the TB to RJ45 adapter.
ok ok, I didn't want to bother him too much :p
I previously unlocked a friends Voda 4S with another friends so thought it might work.
Nothing lost by trying anyway.
Just hope the seller is decent enough to fill the form out for me, it's no real hardship but sometimes people seem to be...
Had this response from voda this morning:
Dear Customer,
The IMEI number provided by you does not match with our records and in that case we will not be able to process your request. To update these details and process the unlock request, kindly contact the Helpline by calling 191 from your...
It does mate, it's locked to 3, they have to be the network to submit the unlock request.
Voda know nothing of the phone, it didn't come from them.
It's such a strange setup that CPW have with Apple. From what I've read, they're the only company in the world that locks to the first SIM installed.
Long title eh..
Long story short, purchased a sealed 4S from a seller on ebay (went and collected cash)
He had it as an upgrade from CPW, he's on Vodafone.
CPW sell SIM free, right?
Well, they are 'till you install a SIM, then the iPhone locks to that network.
Unfortunately, I got home and...
Thanks to Malice's influence a couple of years ago, I called customer relations to complain about my 2010 15" MBP needing to go in for repair for it's 4th time.
Previous faults were:
Palm rest edge, the finish had "failed" - They replaced bottom half/chassis
Motherboard fault causing constant...
You get a little exclamation mark on the messages icon if it has failed.
If you put your phone down and don't notice, why not switch from vibrate to "loud" and listen for the message sent tone?
Anyone that fancies an SSD, Amazon have the crucial M4 128GB on @ £78.99.
I got myself one the other day to replace my OCZ Vertex 120GB.
Before:
After:
Running in a 2010 MBP so only Sata II otherwise the read speed would be higher.
I'll be updating my mid 2010 15" this refresh to whatever comes out 15" wise.
Really hope they keep the RJ45, a USB adapter would be a chore and if they don't go USB 3.0 it'll be slowww.
I used one for the first time last night - just some configuration of that and a NAS.
The range was awful, wireless dropped off loads, as in you couldn't see the SSID whilst only a few feet from the thing and what's the deal with only 2.4 or 5ghz wireless? Why didn't they make it simultaneous...
I have SABnzbd and sickbeard running sweet on my synology but I'm struggling to find the processing script for couchpotato so that I can edit and move it.
Anyone got it running on theirs?
Where is the file? Actually, I can't even find out what it's called.
I sold my N40L last week, bloody hated WHS2011. Tried numerous different NAS OS's and they all sucked..unRAID, freeNAS, openmediavault etc.
I'm sure WHS is great with windows clients but trying to configure NFS and get TimeMachine going was breaking me lol.
Ended up splashing £510 on the new...
It all depends of if the original carrier applied a customised ROM or not.
Orange used to be buggers for it back when I was using windows mobile phones (c500 etc)
Easily sorted with a stock HTC ROM. XDA developers is you friend :)
It's so simple mate, I'd be robbing you of beer money.
Pop the new HDD into an enclosure or use a SATA to USB adapter.
Get a program called "super duper" and clone your current HDD to your new one.
Shut down, follow the guide for switching HDDs that I linked you to.
Power back up. You're done :)
